Thor - Pretilachlor 50% EC - Parijat
Thor Herbicide by Parijat
Pretilachlor 50% EC for pre-emergence control of specified weeds in transplanted rice.
Crop fit: Transplanted rice with the listed grasses, sedges and other paddy
weeds.
First application: Before weed emergence, immediately after transplanting through 4
days after transplanting.
Water management: Spray water and field standing water have separate purposes:
prepare the spray correctly and maintain the specified field conditions.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
-
🌾 Transplanted-rice positioning: A defined
crop-establishment setting helps distinguish this use from nurseries, direct-seeded rice or unrelated crops.
-
🌱 Early weed-development action: Pretilachlor acts during germination and seedling development, before susceptible weeds become established.
-
🍃 Several weed groups listed: Grass weeds,
sedges and other paddy weeds are included, without claiming every weed in the field.
-
💧 Liquid concentrate for spraying: The EC
formulation is mixed with water and sprayed uniformly with the specified equipment; it is not a ready-to-broadcast granule.

How It Works: Mode of Action
-
Place the treatment before emergence: Uniform application across the transplanted-rice field places the herbicide in the early
weed-growth environment. Correct field-water management is part of this placement.
-
Block an essential growth process: Pretilachlor inhibits very-long-chain fatty-acid synthesis, affecting compounds needed for
normal development of growing plant tissues.
-
Restrict weed establishment: Susceptible germinating weeds and young seedlings cannot develop normally, helping reduce early weed
competition.
This is not a universal rescue treatment for large established weeds or every later weed flush. Thor and Thor
Plus both use Group 15, so switching between them is not a change of mode of action. Selectivity does not guarantee safety on every
rice variety, stage or following crop.
Target Crops & Weeds
| Crop |
Target weeds |
|---|---|
| Transplanted rice — grasses |
Barnyard grass (Echinochloa crusgalli); jungle rice (Echinochloa colonum); Chinese sprangletop (Leptochloa chinensis); torpedo
grass (Panicum repens) |
| Transplanted rice — sedges |
Variable flatsedge (Cyperus difformis); ricefield flatsedge (Cyperus iria); grass-like fimbry (Fimbristylis miliacea) |
| Transplanted rice — other weeds |
False daisy (Eclipta alba); water primrose (Ludwigia parviflora); heart-shaped false pickerel weed (Monochoria vaginalis) |
These three rows describe one transplanted-rice use, separated by weed group for identification. Thor includes
Chinese sprangletop and torpedo grass; do not transfer the distinct Thor Plus large-crabgrass entry to it.
Dosage & Application Guide
Pre-Emergence Timing, Spray Water & Field-Water Conditions
Apply before weed emergence, from immediately after transplanting through day 4. Use 500–750 L spray water/ha,
approximately 202.34–303.51 L/acre. Keep 2–3 cm standing water in the field for up to 5 days after application. Use a knapsack, foot
or compression-knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle for uniform spraying.
These timing, water and placement instructions are not a complete spray recipe. Confirm the product quantity
and units, harvest restriction, re-entry and treatment limits before preparing the mixture. Spray dilution and standing-water depth
are different parts of the method; do not borrow either from Thor Plus 37% EW.
How to Apply: Best Practices
-
Check the exact crop and formulation: Confirm transplanted rice and Thor Pretilachlor 50% EC on the container. This use does not
establish nursery or direct-seeded-rice permission.
-
Plan before weeds emerge: Treat within the 0–4-day window after transplanting, before weed emergence. Established weeds need a
separate assessment rather than a higher amount or an improvised partner.
-
Prepare with clean water: Mix the confirmed product quantity first with a little clean water, then add the remaining recommended
water with continuous stirring. Work in a ventilated place and use a mixing tool, never bare hands.
-
Use the specified nozzle and even coverage: Choose a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle on the stated spraying equipment. Check its
condition and output, avoid gaps and concentrated overlaps, and never clear a blockage with the mouth.
-
Manage field water deliberately: Maintain the specified 2–3 cm depth for up to 5 days after application. Do not replace this with a
different pretilachlor formulation’s drainage or flooding schedule.
-
Choose suitable weather and positioning: Do not spray in fog, strong wind or the hottest part of the day. Work with the wind so
spray moves away from the operator, while preventing drift to adjoining crops, people and animals.
-
Keep mixtures and records specific: Add another product only when both current labels permit the proposed mixture for transplanted
rice. Record the field, product and date, and keep harvest, re-entry and later crop restrictions separate.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How is Thor different from Thor Plus?
Thor contains pretilachlor 50% EC; Thor Plus contains pretilachlor 37% EW. Their strengths, formulations,
weed lists and directions differ. Neither dose nor water schedule should be transferred between them.
2. When should Thor be applied?
Before weeds emerge, from transplanting through 4 days after transplanting. It is not a general rescue
treatment for large established weeds.
3. Which targets distinguish its weed list?
Chinese sprangletop and torpedo grass are included alongside the other listed grasses, sedges and paddy
weeds. Thor Plus has a separate large-crabgrass entry; the lists should not be merged.
4. Are spray water and standing water the same instruction?
No. The 500–750 L/ha spray-water range concerns preparation and coverage. The 2–3 cm standing-water depth
for up to 5 days concerns field management after application. Both must fit the complete crop programme.
5. Does a green triangle mean the product is harmless?
No. The pack warning is Caution. A colour band does not remove exposure risks or establish safety for every
crop, animal or water source. Follow all protective-equipment and environmental precautions.
Safety & Disclaimer
Before you use it: Read the current Thor label and leaflet before handling. Confirm the full
crop-specific application, harvest, re-entry, first-aid, equipment-cleaning, disposal and following-crop directions. Use an added
product only when both current labels permit the mixture and crop use.
Wear gloves, an apron and a mask, with any further required protection. Avoid contact with mouth, eyes and
skin and avoid inhaling spray mist, fog and vapours. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while handling or spraying. Wash thoroughly
after handling. Bathe properly after application and wash contaminated clothing separately.
Store in the closed original labelled container, in a cool, dry place away from heat and open flames,
children, animals, food, feed and water. Prevent spray, surplus mixture and equipment washings from contaminating wells, ponds,
streams or irrigation channels. Keep equipment in good working order.
Wash contaminated skin promptly with plenty of water and change contaminated clothing. Seek medical help
immediately after exposure or illness and take the pack or leaflet; do not attempt home antidote treatment.
