Product scienceHow It Works: Mode of Action

Takumi works differently than older poisons. It targets the insect's muscles rather than its nerves.

  1. Ingestion: The caterpillar eats the treated leaf.
  2. Calcium Flood: The chemical locks the insect's calcium channels open. This floods the muscles with calcium, causing them to contract uncontrollably.
  3. Starvation & Death: The insect enters "Muscle Contraction Mode." It becomes paralyzed, stops feeding immediately, and dies within 24 to 48 hours.

Because it works on muscles, it effectively kills pests that have developed resistance to nerve poisons like pyrethroids.

Useful detailsHow to Apply: Best Practices

  • Mixing: Premix the granules in a small mug of water before adding to the main tank. It dissolves easily.
  • Coverage: Use a Hollow Cone Nozzle for better leaf coverage. Ensure the underside of leaves is sprayed, as pests hide there.
  • Safety: Always wear PPE (gloves, mask, goggles). Wash hands thoroughly after use.
