Takibi works differently than older pesticides. It targets the insect's muscle system rather than its nervous system.

  1. Ingestion: The caterpillar eats the treated leaf or stem.
  2. Calcium Flood: The chemical binds to the Ryanodine receptors in the insect's muscles, forcing them to release all their stored calcium at once.
  3. Paralysis & Death: This massive calcium release causes the muscles to contract uncontrollably (paralysis). The insect stops feeding instantly and dies of starvation within days.

Note: Because mammals (humans/cows) have different receptors, this chemical is very safe for us.
