HPM Samba Product Overview

HPM Samba is a systemic foliar fungicide containing Isoprothiolane 40% EC. Its current Indian label is approved for the management of blast disease in rice.

Isoprothiolane belongs to the dithiolane chemical group and is classified by FRAC in Group 6 (target-site code F2). It is absorbed by treated rice plants and acts systemically. Use Samba only for the crop, disease, dose, timing, equipment and safety directions stated on the current product label.

Available packs on Mana Agri Mart: 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre.

Why farmers choose itWhy Choose HPM Samba? Key Benefits
  • Label-approved rice blast control: Registered for blast disease in rice when used according to the approved directions.
  • Systemic activity: The active ingredient is absorbed by the plant, supporting protection beyond the spray deposit.
  • Protective and curative positioning: HPM describes Samba as having protective and curative activity, while treatment timing must still follow the label and local disease pressure.
  • Clear application guidance: The current label specifies the dose, water volume, crop stage, spray frequency, re-entry period and pre-harvest interval.
  • Resistance-management classification: FRAC Group 6 identification helps farmers and advisers plan rotation with fungicides having different modes of action.

Product scienceHow It Works: Mode of Action

Isoprothiolane is a FRAC Group 6 fungicide. FRAC places it in target-site code F2, associated with inhibition of phospholipid biosynthesis and methyltransferase activity. This interferes with essential fungal processes needed for infection and disease development.

  1. Spray deposition: The properly diluted formulation is applied uniformly to the rice canopy.
  2. Plant absorption: The systemic active ingredient is absorbed by treated plant tissue.
  3. Disease management: At the approved timing and dose, it helps manage rice blast as stated on the label.

To protect long-term efficacy, rotate with suitable fungicides from different FRAC groups and follow local resistance-management guidance. Do not exceed the labelled spray frequency.

PHI means pre-harvest interval. These are hectare-based label directions and must not be converted into a universal per-litre or per-pump dose without an authorised recommendation.

Useful detailsHow to Apply HPM Samba
  • Timing: Apply within the labelled rice growth window, from seedling stage to panicle emergence, according to disease pressure and official recommendations.
  • Mixing: Measure the required formulation, mix it first with a small quantity of clean water, then add the remaining water while agitating.
  • Equipment: Use a high-volume foliar sprayer fitted with a hollow-cone nozzle and achieve uniform crop coverage.
  • Weather: Do not spray during rain, strong wind or hot sunny conditions. Prevent spray drift and runoff.
  • Aquatic safety: Avoid use near aquaculture and prevent contamination of ponds, streams and irrigation channels.
  • Resistance management: Use the labelled number of sprays and rotate with appropriate fungicides from a different FRAC group.
