Saikin works as a Melanin Biosynthesis Inhibitor (MBI). The Rice Blast fungus needs a hard, black pigment called melanin to punch through the rice leaf. Saikin stops the fungus from producing this pigment.

  1. Blocks Melanin: It inhibits the reductase enzymes in the fungal pathway.
  2. Weakens Structure: Without melanin, the fungal spore cannot build the pressure needed to infect the plant.
  3. Prevents Entry: The fungal "needle" fails to penetrate the leaf, and the infection is aborted before it begins.

  • Timing: For Leaf Blast, apply as soon as small specks appear. For Neck Blast, the critical time is the Late Booting Stage (just before the panicle emerges).
  • Mixing: Compatible with most pesticides like Cartap or Hexaconazole. WARNING: Never mix with Lime Sulphur or Bordeaux mixture (alkaline substances destroy the medicine).
  • Coverage: Use a Hollow Cone nozzle to ensure fine mist covers both sides of the leaves. Use sufficient water (200L/acre) to penetrate the canopy.
