Rogor (Dimethoate) is a classic systemic insecticide that has been used for decades to control sucking pests like Aphids and Mites. It is famous for its distinct "garlic-like" smell and its ability to enter the plant system to kill hidden pests. However, due to high toxicity, the Government of India has recently restricted its use. It is now primarily recommended for non-edible crops like Cotton and Ornamentals.

Best For: Cotton (Aphids/Jassids), Maize (Stem Borer), and Roses (Scales/Mites).

Rogor works by attacking the insect's nervous system:

  1. Systemic Absorption: When sprayed, the chemical enters the plant's vascular system (xylem) and spreads to all leaves and stems.
  2. Ingestion: Sucking pests (like Aphids) feed on the toxic sap.
  3. Enzyme Blockade: The poison inhibits the enzyme Acetylcholinesterase, causing nerve impulses to fire continuously without stopping.
  4. Death: The insect suffers tremors, paralysis, and death.

Because it is systemic, it cannot be washed off by rain once absorbed (rainfast in 4-6 hours).

  • Water Quality: Rogor breaks down quickly in alkaline water (High pH). Add a lemon or acidifier to the water if it is from a borewell.
  • Temperature: Do not spray in high heat (>30°C) as the chemical evaporates. Spray in the cool evening.
  • Equipment: Use a "Hollow Cone Nozzle" to create a fine mist that penetrates the crop canopy.
  • Smell: The product has a strong "rotten garlic" smell. This is normal.
