Product scienceHow It Works: Mode of Action

Tebuconazole is a systemic demethylation-inhibitor fungicide. It inhibits the fungal C14-demethylase enzyme involved in sterol biosynthesis, disrupting formation of the cell-membrane components required for susceptible fungi to grow.

  1. Seed coating: The measured dry formulation is distributed uniformly over seed intended for sowing.
  2. Systemic protection: Tebuconazole protects the treated seed and developing seedling against the label-listed seed-borne smut pathogens.
  3. Sterol disruption: FRAC Group 3 activity interferes with fungal membrane formation and development.

Resistance note: FRAC lists Group 3 DMIs as a medium-resistance-risk group and generally expects cross-resistance among DMIs active on the same fungus. Follow the current label and authorised disease-management guidance.

Measure by seed weight, not by acre or spray-tank volume. HPM's online page does not publish a numeric dose. Use the exact quantity per seed weight printed on the current physical pack or leaflet; do not calculate an acre or litre conversion.

  • Equipment: Use conventional commercial or on-farm seed-treating equipment as directed by HPM and the label.
  • Small batches: HPM advises placing seed and the measured product in a closed container and rolling until seed is uniformly coated.
  • Seed only: Use only on seed intended for sowing. Never use treated seed as food, feed or for oil extraction.
  • Uniformity: Do not leave untreated pockets or add extra product to compensate for poor mixing.
  • After treatment: Follow the current label for drying, sowing, storage, bag marking and disposal of treated seed and empty packs.
  • Safety: Avoid inhaling dust or contacting skin and eyes. Wear the PPE specified on the current label and wash after handling.
