HPM Papro Buprofezin 15% + Acephate 35% WP Insecticide

HPM Papro is a wettable-powder combination insecticide containing Buprofezin 15% + Acephate 35% WP. The verified Papro label use is for brown plant hopper and white-backed plant hopper in rice.

The two active ingredients belong to different IRAC mode-of-action groups. Acephate is Group 1B, an organophosphate acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Buprofezin is Group 16, a chitin-biosynthesis inhibitor type 1. These classifications support resistance stewardship; they are not safety grades and do not guarantee control.

Label boundary: Use Papro only on the crop and pests printed on its current pack. The rice-only scope on this page follows the Papro-specific label reviewed. Do not extend this use to cotton, okra, vegetables, or other crops without a current physical Papro label that expressly authorizes them.

Why farmers choose itWhy Choose HPM Papro?
  • Two verified active ingredients: Buprofezin and Acephate are combined in one registered wettable-powder formulation.
  • Different mode-of-action groups: Papro must be counted as both IRAC Group 16 and Group 1B in resistance planning.
  • Rice hopper label scope: The reviewed Indian label specifies brown plant hopper and white-backed plant hopper in rice.
  • Complete application values available: The official label provides formulation dose, water volume, crop stage, re-entry period, spray frequency, and pre-harvest interval.
  • Clear use boundary: This page avoids universal per-litre conversions, unverified crop expansion, and claims of guaranteed or resistance-proof control.

Product scienceHow the Active Ingredients Work
  1. Buprofezin – IRAC 16: Inhibits chitin biosynthesis in susceptible immature insects, disrupting normal development and moulting.
  2. Acephate – IRAC 1B: Inhibits acetylcholinesterase in susceptible insects, affecting normal nervous-system function.
  3. Combination stewardship: Because Papro contains both groups, it must not be treated as a single-group product when planning rotations.

The premix is not resistance-proof. If another treatment is justified, select a different-group product only when its own current label independently matches the crop, pest, and application timing.

The reviewed label places application from vegetative to reproductive stage and states 2–3 sprays depending on infestation. HPM separately publishes 500 g/acre in 200 L water/acre. These are alternative official unit expressions; do not add them together or derive a universal per-litre or pump dose.

How to applyApplication and Resistance Stewardship
  • Confirm the target: Identify brown plant hopper or white-backed plant hopper in rice before deciding whether treatment is justified.
  • Use the complete label rate: Measure the formulation accurately and use the full label-specified water volume with correctly calibrated equipment.
  • Follow crop stage and threshold guidance: Apply only at the label-listed stage and when treatment is justified by pest infestation.
  • Count both groups: Another Acephate, Buprofezin, Group 1B, Group 16, or 1B+16 product is not a different-mode rotation.
  • Do not infer mixing: Recommendation cards are standalone purchase alternatives. They do not authorize tank mixing, simultaneous application, layering, dose transfer, or an automatic spray sequence.
Use with careSafety, Environmental Care and Storage

Avoid inhalation and skin or eye contact during measuring, mixing, and spraying. Do not mix with bare hands, and do not eat, drink, chew, or smoke during application. Wear every item of personal protective equipment required by the current Papro label, then wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing after work.

The reviewed Acephate-containing formulation label warns of high toxicity to honey bees and fish. Avoid application during active bee foraging and around aquaculture, and prevent spray, washings, and surplus material from entering water bodies.

Store the sealed original pack under lock and key away from food, feed, children, and animals. Read and follow the current Papro label before handling or application. The physical label is final for crop, pest, dose, timing, spray count, re-entry, waiting period, PPE, first aid, storage, disposal, and environmental protection.
