Metacil works on the insect's nervous system. It is a non-systemic insecticide with strong contact and stomach action.

1. Nervous System Attack: It binds to the sodium channels in the insect's nerve cells, keeping them open. This causes uncontrollable tremors and paralysis.
2. Smart Release (Rupture): The micro-capsules act like "booby traps." When a pest (like a bollworm) walks over a treated leaf, the pressure breaks the capsule, releasing a fresh, lethal dose directly onto the insect.
3. Repellent Effect: It also acts as an anti-feedant. Moths dislike the smell/taste and avoid laying eggs on treated plants.

Result: Quick knockdown followed by death of the pest.

The Golden Rule: Always follow the "Dose per Acre" for accurate results.

*PHI = Pre-Harvest Interval: The minimum number of days to wait between the last spray and harvesting. Note that vegetables have a short PHI (5 days).
