Product scienceHow It Works: Mode of Action

Matin works by targeting the energy production center of the weed. It is a systemic herbicide, meaning it travels inside the plant.

  1. Absorption: Matin is absorbed primarily through the roots from the soil and partly through the leaves.
  2. Movement: Once inside, it travels upward (acropetally) through the water-conducting tissues (xylem) to reach the leaves.
  3. Inhibition: It blocks Photosynthesis (Photosystem II). This stops the weed from creating energy, leading to starvation, yellowing of leaves, and finally, death of the weed.

Note: Crops like Sugarcane and Soybean have special enzymes that detoxify Matin, keeping them safe while weeds die.

  • Timing: For most crops (Soybean, Potato, Sugarcane), apply within 3 days of planting (Pre-emergence). For Wheat, apply 30-35 days after sowing.
  • Mixing (The Slurry Method): Since this is a Wettable Powder (WP), do not dump it all into the tank at once. Mix the powder with a little water in a bucket to make a smooth "soup" or slurry first, then pour that into the main tank.
  • Coverage: Use a Flat Fan Nozzle or Flood Jet nozzle. Do not use a cone nozzle (insecticide nozzle), as it creates mist that drifts away. Keep the nozzle 50cm above the ground.
  • Safety: Always wear PPE (gloves, mask, goggles). Wash hands thoroughly after use. Walk backward while spraying to avoid stepping on the treated soil.
