Legacee works by targeting the specific biology of grassy weeds. It stops the production of lipids (fats) essential for plant growth.

  1. Absorption: The herbicide is absorbed rapidly through the leaves of the weeds (not the roots).
  2. Translocation: It travels through the plant to the growing points (meristems) in the shoots and roots.
  3. Inhibition: It blocks the ACCase enzyme. Without this enzyme, the weed cannot create new cell membranes. Growth stops in 1-3 days, leaves turn yellow (chlorosis), and the weed dies completely within 12-21 days.

Note: Legacee does not kill broadleaf weeds or sedges because their enzyme structure is different.

  • Timing: Spray when grassy weeds have 2 to 5 leaves. Spraying too early (1 leaf) may result in new weeds germinating later. Spraying too late (after tillering) reduces effectiveness.
  • Mixing: Do NOT mix directly with 2,4-D (it reduces grass control). If broadleaf control is needed, mix with Metsulfuron+Chlorimuron (Almix) or use Bispyribac-sodium as a partner.
