Kashima works on the muscle system of the insect.

  1. Ingestion: The granules dissolve in water, are absorbed by roots, and travel up the plant. When the larva bites the plant, it swallows the chemical.
  2. Muscle Lock: The chemical binds to the Ryanodine Receptors, causing all the calcium in the insect's muscles to leak out uncontrolled.
  3. Paralysis & Death: The insect becomes paralyzed, cannot eat, and dies within 24 to 72 hours.

Because it moves upward in the plant (systemic), it reaches new growth, protecting shoots that haven't even emerged yet.
