Selective early weed control for transplanted paddy

HPM Hunter contains Butachlor 50% EC. It is a selective, systemic pre-emergence herbicide registered for one application in transplanted paddy within three to four days after transplanting. It targets the listed grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds while they are germinating.

Hunter is a herbicide—not an insecticide—and it must not be used for insect control. Use it only in the crop, timing, and manner stated on the current Indian label.

Product scienceHow Butachlor Works

Butachlor is absorbed mainly by the emerging shoots of germinating weeds and secondarily by their roots. It inhibits very-long-chain fatty-acid synthesis, disrupting the development of new weed cells before emergence. The current HRAC/WSSA classification places Butachlor in Group 15. Hunter will not control established weeds in the same way as a post-emergence foliar herbicide.

Label frequency: one application. Re-entry period: 24 hours. Do not derive a fixed millilitre-per-litre rate; correct use depends on treating the stated field area with the stated total product and water volumes.

  2. Measure the product for the field area; use clean water and the current pack label as the controlling instruction.
  3. Apply uniformly with a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat-fan nozzle.
  4. Avoid missed strips, overlapping passes, and spray drift onto non-target crops or water bodies.
  5. Make one application only and observe the 24-hour re-entry period.
