Glean works by targeting the specific biological systems of weeds without harming cereal crops (which can metabolize the chemical safely).

  1. Absorption: The active ingredient, Chlorsulfuron, is rapidly absorbed through both the roots and foliage of the weed.
  2. Enzyme Inhibition: It moves to the growing points of the plant and inhibits the ALS enzyme. This blocks the production of essential amino acids (valine, leucine, isoleucine).
  3. Growth Arrest: Without these amino acids, cell division stops immediately. The weed stops growing, turns yellow (chlorosis), and eventually dies within 1-3 weeks.

Note: Visual symptoms may take a few weeks, but the weed stops competing with your crop almost immediately after spraying.
