Ferterra works by targeting the muscles of the insect. It activates the Ryanodine Receptors, causing an uncontrolled release of calcium.

  1. Ingestion: The pest eats the plant tissue treated with Ferterra.
  2. Paralysis: The insect's muscles contract and freeze (paralysis). They lose the ability to move or eat.
  3. Elimination: Starved and paralyzed, the pest dies within 2–4 days.

Note: Because it stops feeding immediately, crop damage ends long before the insect physically dies.
