Syngenta Ekalux Insecticide Overview

Syngenta Ekalux contains Quinalphos 25% EC. It is a broad-use organophosphate insecticide with contact and stomach action against the specified crop pests on its Indian registration.

Use note: Do not use one general per-acre dose. Rates and harvest intervals vary greatly by crop and pest. The current Ekalux pack is the controlling source, especially for red gram where published PHI tables conflict.

Product scienceHow Ekalux Works

Quinalphos inhibits acetylcholinesterase in susceptible insects, causing acetylcholine to accumulate at nerve junctions. This disrupts normal nerve signalling, leading to paralysis and death. It should not be described as systemic.

Registered crop–pest pairs include: rice—brown planthopper, hispa/blue beetle, leaf folder and stem borer; sorghum—mite and shoot fly; wheat—aphid, earhead caterpillar and mites; Bengal gram—pod borer; red gram—pod borer and pod fly; chilli—aphid and mites; cardamom—thrips; groundnut—leafhopper, thrips and leaf miner; mustard—sawfly; citrus—scale and citrus butterfly; cauliflower—stem borer; soybean—leaf weevil; and tea—thrips.

Tea has a current 7-day PHI. For every other crop, use the exact pack rate and PHI; do not infer them from the rice table.

How to applyApplication Guide
  • Monitor the crop and spray only at the label threshold or timing for the intended pest.
  • Add measured EC to the partly filled tank, top up and agitate for a uniform emulsion.
  • Use a calibrated high-volume foliar sprayer and cover the pest habitat evenly.
  • Observe crop-specific PHI and rotate with an effective insecticide from another IRAC group.

  • Organophosphate pesticide: wear full label-specified protective equipment and avoid inhalation or skin contact.
  • Highly hazardous to aquatic organisms; keep spray, runoff and wash water away from waterways and aquaculture.
  • Protect bees and birds by avoiding active foraging periods and habitats specified on the pack.
  • In suspected exposure, seek medical help immediately and take the container/label.
