Crystal Dursban Organophosphate Insecticide Overview

Crystal Dursban contains Chlorpyrifos 20% EC. It is an IRAC Group 1B organophosphate insecticide with contact, stomach and vapour activity for the specific crop–pest combinations authorised on the current Indian label.

Use note: Ber, citrus and tobacco uses must not be followed: chlorpyrifos uses on those crops were banned under India S.O. 4294(E), 3 October 2023. Use only currently authorised crops and the exact pack rate. PHI is not stated in the cited label and is not invented here.

Product scienceHow Dursban Works

Chlorpyrifos inhibits acetylcholinesterase, causing acetylcholine to accumulate at nerve junctions. Susceptible insects develop loss of coordination, paralysis and death. It is not described here as systemic.

Foliar uses generally use 500–1000 L water/ha; apple uses 1500–2000 L/ha. Gram/barley seed-treatment directions and any missing harvest interval must be confirmed on the current pack.

How to applyApplication Guide
  • Identify the crop, pest and authorised method before measuring; foliar, soil and seed-treatment rates are not interchangeable.
  • For foliar use, add measured EC to the partly filled tank, top up and maintain a uniform emulsion.
  • Use the crop-specific water volume and calibrated equipment; prevent drift and runoff.
  • Do not exceed the current pack frequency and never use on ber, citrus or tobacco.

  • Cholinesterase-inhibiting organophosphate: wear full label-specified protective equipment and avoid all skin, eye and inhalation exposure.
