HPM Dhruv Herbicide: Product Overview

HPM Dhruv contains Ammonium Salt of Glyphosate 71% in a soluble-granule (SG) formulation. It is a broad-spectrum, systemic, non-selective post-emergence herbicide registered for specified weeds in tea and non-crop areas.

Dhruv is absorbed through green weed foliage and translocated within susceptible plants, including towards roots and rhizomes. Because it is non-selective, spray contact or drift can injure tea foliage, crops and other desirable vegetation. Use a directed application only on the weeds and sites covered by the current product label.

Regulatory notice: Central notifications, court proceedings and state requirements concerning glyphosate have changed over time. Before purchase or application, verify the current Central, state and local rules, operator or licensing requirements, and the directions on the physical HPM Dhruv pack.

Why farmers choose itWhy Choose HPM Dhruv?
  • Systemic foliar action: the active ingredient moves from treated green tissue through susceptible weeds, helping reach underground portions of perennial weeds.
  • Defined registered use: the Government of India label identifies tea and non-crop areas rather than making an unrestricted all-crop claim.
  • Broad labelled weed spectrum: the registered list includes annual and perennial broadleaf weeds, grasses and sedges.
  • Resistance-management clarity: glyphosate is HRAC/WSSA Group 9, an EPSPS inhibitor. This supports informed planning and avoidance of repeated reliance on one group.
  • Multiple pack choices: Mana Agri Mart lists 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg variants. Select the quantity required by the label-calculated treatment area.

Product scienceHow Glyphosate Group 9 Works

Glyphosate inhibits 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), an enzyme needed by susceptible plants to produce aromatic amino acids. Treated weeds gradually stop growing and decline as the herbicide moves through the plant. Visible speed can vary with weed species, growth stage and weather; no universal time-to-control claim is made.

For resistance stewardship, do not rely continuously on HRAC Group 9 alone. Integrate cultural or mechanical weed control where practical. If a different herbicide is agronomically justified, use a separately applied product whose own current Indian label covers the site, weed and timing. Recommendations are standalone choices, never tank-mix instructions.

Useful detailsHow to Apply Safely
  • Confirm the site and target weed on the current physical label before measuring the product.
  • Apply post-emergence to actively growing weeds at the 4–8 leaf stage. Direct the spray at weed foliage and prevent contact with tea leaves, crop foliage and other desirable plants.
  • Use the label-listed high-volume sprayer or HTP power sprayer fitted with a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle.
  • Do not spray in rainy or windy conditions or during hot, bright periods that increase drift or reduce application quality.
  • Keep spray, rinsate and containers away from ponds, aquaculture and other water bodies. Do not exceed one labelled application.
  • Wear the personal protective equipment required by the current label. Keep people and animals out of the treated area for at least 24 hours.
