Penoxsulam is an HRAC/WSSA Group 2 herbicide that inhibits acetolactate synthase, interrupting production of branched-chain amino acids needed for weed growth. Butachlor is an HRAC/WSSA Group 15 herbicide that inhibits very-long-chain fatty-acid synthesis and cell development in susceptible emerging weeds. The two active ingredients therefore contribute different target-site activity within one formulation.

This classification supports resistance-awareness, but it does not guarantee control of resistant weeds. Follow the label and use integrated weed-management practices suited to the field.
