HPM Cheetah Imazethapyr 10% SL Herbicide

HPM Cheetah is a selective systemic herbicide containing Imazethapyr 10% SL. HPM lists it for label-named grass, broadleaf and sedge weeds in soybean and groundnut.

Cheetah is a crop-protection herbicide, not a fertilizer, plant nutrient or growth promoter. Buy and use it only when the crop, weed spectrum and application window on the current Cheetah label match the field situation.

Product scienceHow Cheetah Works

HPM describes Cheetah as being absorbed by weed roots and foliage, then moved through the xylem and phloem to growing regions. Imazethapyr inhibits the ALS / AHAS enzyme involved in producing the branched-chain amino acids valine, leucine and isoleucine. This interrupts normal growth in susceptible weeds.

Imazethapyr belongs to HRAC/WSSA Group 2. A mode-of-action number describes the biochemical target; it is not a guarantee of control and does not replace correct weed identification, application timing or resistance stewardship.

Useful detailsLabel Scope
  • Soybean: HPM's current Cheetah page lists named grass, broadleaf and sedge weeds.
  • Groundnut: HPM's current Cheetah page lists a separate set of named grass, broadleaf and sedge weeds.
  • Other crops: do not assume Cheetah is registered for another pulse, legume or crop because another Imazethapyr product carries that use.
  • Weed spectrum: confirm the weed species on the current pack. “Broad-spectrum” does not mean every weed or resistant population will be controlled.
How to applyApplication Decisions
  • Read the current Cheetah label and leaflet before opening the container. Confirm crop, weed, crop stage, weed stage, soil conditions and weather limits.
  • Use only the label's rate, spray-water volume, equipment, nozzle, number of applications, re-entry interval and pre-harvest interval.
  • Do not calculate a universal ml-per-litre, pump or acres-per-pack rate from this page. Those conversions can change the delivered field dose.
  • Do not add an adjuvant, fertilizer or another pesticide unless the current Cheetah label or an authorised local recommendation explicitly permits that exact combination.
  • Prevent drift onto non-target crops and vegetation. Use clean, calibrated equipment and dispose of rinsate only as the label directs.
Useful detailsResistance Stewardship
  • Avoid repeated reliance on Imazethapyr or other HRAC Group 2 herbicides alone.
  • Use crop rotation, cultural and mechanical weed control, clean seed and field hygiene where practical.
  • If a separate herbicide treatment is agronomically justified, select a product with a different effective HRAC group whose own label independently covers the crop, weed and timing.
  • Investigate survivors rather than automatically repeating the same Group 2 treatment.
Use with careSafety, Storage and Environmental Care
  • Wear all personal protective equipment specified on the current pack while measuring, mixing, applying and cleaning equipment.
  • Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while handling the product.
  • Prevent spray drift, runoff and contamination of ponds, drains, wells, irrigation channels and aquaculture. Avoid exposing people, animals and non-target organisms.
  • Store locked in the original labelled container, away from children, food, feed and medicines. Never reuse an empty pesticide container.
  • If exposure or poisoning is suspected, follow the pack's first-aid directions, obtain medical help promptly and show the label. Do not invent or self-administer an antidote.
Useful detailsLabel-First Disclaimer

Always read and follow the current official HPM Cheetah label and leaflet. The physical pack is the final authority for crop, weed, dose, water volume, timing, application method, maximum applications, re-entry, PHI, rotational-crop restrictions, PPE, first aid, environmental precautions, storage and disposal. This page does not replace the label, current Indian regulation or qualified local agronomic advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the active ingredient in HPM Cheetah?

Cheetah contains Imazethapyr 10% SL.

Which mode-of-action group does it belong to?

Imazethapyr is an ALS-inhibiting HRAC/WSSA Group 2 herbicide, formerly HRAC Group B.

Which crops are verified on HPM's Cheetah page?

The checked HPM page lists soybean and groundnut. The current physical pack must confirm the crop and weed before use.

What rate should be used?

Use only the rate and water volume printed on the current Cheetah pack. This page does not provide a derived per-litre, pump or acreage rate.

Can Cheetah be mixed with another herbicide or adjuvant?

No universal tank-mix advice is provided. Combine products only when the current labels or an authorised local recommendation explicitly permit the exact mixture.

Are other Imazethapyr 10% SL products a resistance rotation?

No. Products with the same active ingredient and HRAC Group 2 belong under Related as substitutes, not as mode-of-action rotations.
