Nichino Check Herbicide: Product Overview

Nichino Check is a selective pre-emergence herbicide containing Pretilachlor 50% EC. Its verified Indian use is early weed management in transplanted rice against specific grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds.

Nichino recommends 400-600 ml per acre. The Government of India registered-use table expresses the rate as 1.0-1.5 litres per hectare in 500-700 litres of water per hectare and states a 75-90 day pre-harvest interval. An Odisha Government expert recommendation positions the formulation at 3-5 days after transplanting as a pre-emergence treatment.

Check is an HRAC/WSSA Group 15 herbicide. Use this mode-group information for stewardship, not as permission to use the product on an unlisted rice system, weed, timing or rate. The current physical Check pack and leaflet remain the final authority.

  1. Early uptake: susceptible weeds take up Pretilachlor while germinating and during very early growth.
  2. Group 15 action: the active ingredient inhibits very-long-chain fatty-acid production needed for normal growth in susceptible weeds.
  3. Pre-emergence fit: it is positioned before weeds are established, so it is not a rescue treatment for uncontrolled mature weeds.

Repeated use of one herbicide group can select less-sensitive weed populations. Combine label-directed chemistry with crop rotation, clean seed, suitable land preparation and mechanical or hand weeding where practical.

DAT = days after transplanting; PHI = minimum pre-harvest interval. Do not convert these ranges into one universal ml-per-litre, pump or tank dose. Use the full label rate with the label water volume for the measured area.
