1. Contact placement: the spray deposit remains on treated plant surfaces rather than moving systemically through the crop.
2. Multi-site activity: FRAC classifies Captan in M04, indicating contact activity at multiple fungal sites rather than one single target site.
3. Coverage-dependent protection: correct dilution, agitation, calibrated equipment and uniform high-volume coverage are important for a contact wettable powder.
4. Resistance stewardship: multi-site classification does not justify claims that resistance is impossible. Follow the label and use a crop- and disease-appropriate programme.

PHI = pre-harvest interval. A dash on the source label means no numerical PHI is stated; it must not be rewritten as zero days. The physical Indian pack label is the final authority.

• Apply as a foliar spray using a high-volume sprayer, from the vegetative to reproductive crop stage.
• Use the recommended dose and dilute it in the full 750-1000 L water/ha. Keep the wettable powder uniformly suspended during application.
• The label directs application as soon as disease appears, preferably in the morning or evening.
• Use 1-2 foliar sprays depending on disease pressure. Do not invent a fixed interval where the label does not provide one.
• Do not spray during rainy, windy or hot sunny conditions. Do not apply during crop maturity or just before harvest.
• Do not use on crops or diseases outside the registered table. Avoid use near aquaculture.

• FRAC classifies Captan as M04. Multi-site fungicides are valuable tools, but the classification is not a guarantee that resistance can never develop.
• Choose any alternate fungicide only where its own Indian label covers the same crop and disease. Match dose, water, timing and PHI to that separate label.

• Wear the protective clothing and equipment specified on the current label while mixing and spraying. Avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes.

• The label warns of skin, eye and upper-respiratory irritation; nausea, vomiting and headache may occur. Seek medical attention after suspected exposure and show the label.
• No specific antidote is listed; treatment is symptomatic and supportive under medical supervision.
• Captan 50% WP is toxic to fish and other aquatic animals, toxic to bees, and hazardous to earthworms and other beneficial arthropods. Keep it away from water bodies and avoid application while bees are actively foraging.
• Store locked in the original labelled container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from children, food and animal feed.
