Bayer Camalus Insecticide: Product Overview

Bayer Camalus is a suspension-concentrate insecticide containing Tetraniliprole 10.81% w/w + Spirotetramat 21.62% w/w SC. It was registered in India for specified chewing and sucking pests on okra, cabbage, chilli, brinjal and tomato.

Camalus combines two different insecticide target sites. Tetraniliprole is an anthranilic diamide in IRAC Group 28, while Spirotetramat is a tetramic-acid derivative in IRAC Group 23. Bayer describes quick feeding cessation and two-way systemic action that helps protect new plant growth. These benefits do not expand the crop or pest list beyond the registered table below.

The verified formulation rate is 375 ml/ha in 500 L water/ha for every approved row. The pre-harvest interval varies by crop, so match the exact crop, pest and PHI before application. Do not convert the hectare directions into a universal per-litre, per-pump or acres-per-pack claim.

Why farmers choose itWhy Choose Camalus?
  • Verified dual composition: Tetraniliprole 10.81% w/w + Spirotetramat 21.62% w/w in an SC formulation.
  • Two IRAC groups: Group 28 acts on ryanodine receptors, while Group 23 inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase and lipid biosynthesis.
  • Chewing and sucking pest spectrum: the Indian registration includes crop-specific borers, caterpillars, aphids, whiteflies, mites, thrips and tomato leaf miner.
  • Five vegetable crops: okra, cabbage, chilli, brinjal and tomato.
  • Clear hectare directions: one formulation rate and water volume with crop-specific waiting periods.

Product scienceHow Camalus Works
  1. Tetraniliprole activity: IRAC classifies Tetraniliprole in Group 28. It modulates insect ryanodine receptors, disrupting normal nerve and muscle function in susceptible pests.
  2. Spirotetramat activity: IRAC classifies Spirotetramat in Group 23. It inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase, affecting lipid biosynthesis and development in susceptible sucking pests.
  3. Plant movement: Bayer describes two-way systemic action and protection of new plant growth. Coverage, crop stage and label timing still matter.
  4. Resistance stewardship: Camalus already contains Groups 28 and 23. Do not automatically follow it with another Tetraniliprole, Chlorantraniliprole, Cyantraniliprole, Spirotetramat, Spiromesifen or Spirodiclofen product.

PHI = pre-harvest interval. The physical Indian label is the final authority. Do not derive a universal ml/L dose or acres-per-pack promise from these hectare directions.

How to applyApplication and Resistance Management
  • Use only on a registered crop and listed target pest. Bayer positions Camalus for use in the early crop stages, but exact timing and repeat limits must come from the supplied label.
  • Use clean, calibrated equipment and maintain the full 500 L/ha water volume unless a current product label expressly states otherwise.
  • Bayer's India page refers to a high-quality Camalus Surfactant. No exact Mana Agri Mart surfactant product ID was verified, so this page does not recommend a generic adjuvant or create a Cart cross-sell. Follow the supplied Bayer label and pack directions only.
  • IRAC recommends alternation or rotation with effective products from different mode-of-action groups, guided by pest biology and local advice. Related items are similarity alternatives, not resistance rotations.
  • No recommendation shown below is a tank-mix instruction. Apply each standalone alternative only under its own current Indian label.
Use with careSafety and Environmental Precautions
  • Wear the personal protective equipment specified on the current pack label. Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of spray mist.
  • The CIBRC registration decision describes this formulation as moderately toxic to aquatic organisms and freshwater fish, and very toxic to honey bees with long-lasting effects.
  • Avoid use near aquaculture and prevent spray, runoff and washings from entering water bodies.
  • Do not apply while bees are actively foraging. Protect pollinators and follow all label restrictions.
  • Keep the original labelled container away from children, food and animal feed. Do not reuse the empty container.
Use with careSafety Disclaimer

Always read and follow the current Bayer Camalus label and leaflet. The physical pack is the final authority for crop, pest, dose, water volume, timing, application frequency, re-entry, PHI, PPE, first aid, environmental precautions, storage and disposal. This page does not replace the label or qualified agronomic advice.
