Fungi require sterols to build and maintain functional cell membranes. Bayer explains that tebuconazole acts as a demethylase inhibitor and interferes with this process, inhibiting fungal reproduction and further growth. This biochemical target places tebuconazole in FRAC Group 3.

Products in the same FRAC group can share cross-resistance risk. Do not treat repeated Group 3 applications as a complete resistance strategy. Follow the physical label and use an agronomist-led disease-management programme with effective non-cross-resistant modes of action where appropriate.
