PI Industries Brofreya Broflanilide 20% SC Insecticide
InsecticidesPI Industries Brofreya: Product Overview
Brofreya is a PI Industries insecticide containing Broflanilide 20% SC. It is registered for specified chewing and sucking pests in brinjal, cabbage, chilli, okra and corn.
Broflanilide is a meta-diamide classified by the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee as IRAC Group 30. Group 30 products act as GABA-gated chloride-channel allosteric modulators. This distinct mode of action can support a properly planned resistance-management programme, but it is not a guarantee that every resistant pest population will be controlled.

7 topicsWhat stands outVerified Product Features
- Defined label spectrum: PI Industries lists lepidopteran and sucking pests across four vegetable crops, plus fall armyworm in corn.
- Group 30 mode of action: Broflanilide allosterically inhibits insect GABA-gated chloride channels, leading to nervous-system hyperexcitation and convulsions.
- QP technology: the PI India product page states quick rainfastness of 30 minutes.
- Short vegetable PHI: the listed PHI is one day for brinjal, cabbage, chilli and okra. Corn has a separate 29-day PHI.
- Three store sizes: choose the preserved 25 ml, 50 ml or 100 ml variant according to the label-listed area and required quantity.

Product scienceHow Brofreya Works
The insect nervous system uses GABA-gated chloride channels to regulate nerve activity. Broflanilide acts allosterically at these channels. IRAC describes Group 30 action as inhibition of the GABA-activated chloride channel, which causes hyperexcitation and convulsions. Apply only for a crop and target pest listed on the current label.
For resistance stewardship, IRAC advises treatment-window strategies and rotation to an effective insecticide from a different mode-of-action group for a subsequent pest generation. Do not rely on the marketing phrase “resistance breaker”, do not expose successive generations to Group 30 automatically, and do not treat recommendation cards as instructions to combine products.
How to applyLabel-Listed Crops, Pests and PHI
| Crop | Target pest(s) | PHI |
|---|---|---|
| Brinjal | Shoot and fruit borer, thrips, jassids | 1 day |
| Cabbage | Diamondback moth and tobacco caterpillar | 1 day |
| Chilli | Fruit borer, tobacco caterpillar, thrips, jassids | 1 day |
| Okra | Fruit and shoot borer, thrips, jassids | 1 day |
| Corn (maize) | Fall armyworm | 29 days |
PHI = pre-harvest interval. The one-day PHI applies only to the four listed vegetable crops; it does not apply to corn.
How to applyDosage and Application
PI Industries lists one formulation rate for the five crop rows: 125 ml/ha, equivalent to 25 g active ingredient per hectare. It also directs the user to apply with 500 L/ha water, a hollow-cone nozzle and thorough coverage.
- Confirm the exact crop and target pest on the current physical label before measuring product.
- Use calibrated application equipment and the official hectare rate. No universal per-acre, per-tank or per-litre instruction is published here.
- Do not apply to an unlisted crop or pest, and do not shorten the crop-specific PHI.
- No tank-mix claim is made. Establish legality, compatibility and crop safety from the current labels and qualified local advice before considering any combination.
Use with careSafety and Stewardship

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the active ingredient in Brofreya?
Brofreya contains Broflanilide 20% SC, a meta-diamide insecticide in IRAC Group 30.
Does every Brofreya crop have a one-day PHI?
No. The PI India table lists one day for brinjal, cabbage, chilli and okra, but 29 days for corn.
Can I calculate one dose for every spray tank?
No universal tank dose is supplied here. Use the official 125 ml/ha rate with 500 L/ha water and calibrated equipment, then follow the current pack label.
Is “Resistance Breaker” an approved guarantee?
No. Group 30 is a distinct mode of action useful in a label-compliant IRM plan, but efficacy depends on the diagnosed pest, susceptibility, timing, coverage and correct use.
Can Brofreya be tank-mixed with another pesticide?
No blanket tank-mix recommendation is made. The Related and Upsell products below are standalone choices only.
