1. Exposure: according to Nichino, susceptible insects are exposed through contact with the spray or ingestion of treated plant material.
2. Ethion action: Group 1B Ethion inhibits acetylcholinesterase, disrupting normal nerve signalling.
3. Cypermethrin action: Group 3A Cypermethrin modulates insect sodium channels, further disrupting nerve impulses.

These are the modes of action of the registered premix. They do not prove ovicidal activity, control of every sucking pest, universal control of resistant populations, a fixed residual duration or guaranteed yield improvement. Use monitoring and local integrated pest-management guidance to decide whether a treatment is needed.

PHI means pre-harvest interval. The dose is area based. Do not publish a universal ml-per-litre rate, and do not transfer this cotton direction to chilli, vegetables, tea or another crop.

• Scout cotton and apply as soon as American bollworm appears, within the label window from flowering to boll maturity.
• Use 400 ml per acre as stated by Nichino. A current Indian primary package label for the exact formulation gives the equivalent direction of 1000 ml per hectare in 500 litres of water. Measure the treated area accurately and follow the current physical Bifors pack if it differs.
• Apply as a high-volume foliar spray with label-suitable equipment, such as an appropriate bucket, stirrup, foot, wheelbarrow, compression-knapsack battery or HTP power sprayer.
• Apply preferably in the morning or evening. Do not spray during rain, strong wind or hot sunny conditions.
• The label permits one or two foliar sprays depending on pest pressure. Do not exceed the current physical pack label.
• Because Bifors already contains IRAC Groups 1B and 3A, plan any later standalone treatment with a label-authorized product from a different effective group. Do not use another Group 1B or 3A product as the intended rotation step.
• Do not tank mix Bifors with another insecticide, fungicide, adjuvant or nutrient unless the current physical label expressly allows it and a qualified local adviser confirms the combination for the exact use.

• Wear the protective clothing and all personal protective equipment shown on the current pack label. Avoid inhaling spray or vapour.
• Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while measuring, mixing or applying the product. Wash exposed body areas and contaminated clothing after application.
• Keep people out of the treated field for 48 hours after spraying, and observe the 15-day pre-harvest interval.
• Avoid application during active bee-foraging periods. The label states that the product is toxic to bees.
• Do not use in or around aquaculture. Prevent spray, rinsate and containers from contaminating water because the product is toxic to aquatic invertebrates and fish.
• Keep birds and livestock away from the product and treated operation; the label identifies toxicity to birds and livestock.
• Store locked in the original labelled container, away from food and feed, in a cool, dry and ventilated place. Never reuse an empty container.

Possible poisoning symptoms listed on the Indian label include nervousness, headache, sweating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, chest tightness, muscular twitching, constricted pupils, breathing difficulty and allergy-like irritation. Seek medical help immediately after significant exposure and take the container or label. Specific antidotes are identified on the label, but their need and administration must be decided only by a medical practitioner; do not self-medicate. The current physical Bifors pack is the final authority for use, dose, timing, PPE, first aid, storage, disposal and environmental precautions.
