Bicota - Tetraniliprole 0.4% w/w + Fipronil 0.6% w/w GR - Bayer
Bicota Insecticide | Tetraniliprole 0.4% + Fipronil 0.6% GR
A granular insecticide for rice stem borer. Its measured dry-carrier broadcast programme is different from
a spray-tank treatment.
Match the rice use: Confirm rice stem borer and the transplanted-rice stage on the
supplied current Indian pack before application.
Keep the method intact: Measure the granules and permitted dry carrier for the
actual area, then broadcast evenly. Do not turn GR granules into a spray concentrate.
Check the selected pack: The pack option is 5 kg. Confirm the selected pack before
ordering; pack capacity alone does not establish a dose for every field.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
-
🌾 Rice stem-borer protection: Targets
stem-borer damage in the permitted rice use, including the early period when damaged tillers can develop dead hearts.
-
🐛 Feeding suppression: Acts against
susceptible stem borers and helps stop their feeding. No fixed speed of visible control or guaranteed protection period is promised.
-
🌱 Granular field application: The measured
broadcast method fits rice-field treatment without preparing a spray tank. Accurate, uniform distribution remains essential.

How It Works: Mode of Action
-
Disrupts muscle regulation: Tetraniliprole activates insect ryanodine receptors, which regulate calcium release inside muscle
cells. This can cause abnormal contraction and paralysis.
-
Disrupts nerve control: Fipronil blocks GABA-gated chloride channels, disrupting nerve signals that normally keep insect nerve
activity under control. This can leave the insect’s nerves overactive.
-
Restricts feeding damage: The resulting disruption of normal insect activity helps stop susceptible stem borers from feeding on
rice. Treatment cannot rebuild tillers already destroyed by pests.
These effects arise from two modes of action, not three. Count both IRAC Groups 28 and 2B in resistance
planning. Avoid back-to-back use; another diamide or fiprole product may repeat one of the same groups even under a different brand.
Use scouting, suitable non-chemical measures and qualified local advice. This is not a guaranteed yield enhancer or a replacement for
crop nutrition.
Target Crops & Pests
Use the following programme only when the supplied current Indian Bicota label includes the exact rice
stem-borer use and confirms the complete directions.
| Crop |
Target pests |
|---|---|
| Rice (paddy) |
Stem borer |
Do not extend this rice stem-borer programme to leaf folder, other paddy pests or sugarcane without their own
matching current Bicota pack directions. Transplanted-rice timing is not automatically suitable for every rice production
system.

Method & first timing |
Harvest interval |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rice: stem borer |
5 kg/acre |
20 kg dry sand/acre |
Method: Even hand broadcasting over the measured area First timing: 15–20 days after transplanting, or at the first sighting of the relevant moths/pests, subject to the supplied pack’s crop-stage and field conditions |
65 days |
The 65-day pre-harvest interval runs from the final application to harvest. It is separate from the 15–20-day
transplant-to-treatment window, worker re-entry and any repeat-treatment interval. Follow any stricter supplied-pack
restriction.
No more than two applications per crop cycle, and do not apply back-to-back. This is a ceiling, not a routine
second-treatment schedule. Treatment must be justified and comply with the supplied current pack.
This is a dry-carrier granule programme, not a spray-water or per-litre recipe. Follow the supplied pack’s
field-water, irrigation, equipment and worker re-entry instructions before application; no standing-water depth, irrigation-holding
period or fixed re-entry time is specified here. Do not substitute a generic fertiliser or another pesticide for the stated dry-sand
carrier.
How to Apply: Best Practices
-
Confirm identity and need: Match Bayer Bicota and Tetraniliprole 0.4% w/w + Fipronil 0.6% w/w GR. Identify the stem-borer problem,
measure the field and confirm the crop stage and treatment need. Do not transfer a spray formulation or overseas label.
-
Measure product and dry carrier: Where the current pack confirms this programme, measure both quantities accurately for the area.
Do not estimate by handfuls, under-dose or over-dose, and do not mix with bare hands.
-
Broadcast evenly: Use the permitted hand-broadcast method over the measured area. Avoid heavy winds, uneven piles and off-target
spread. Do not use this programme as a substitute for advice when pest pressure is extreme and unmanaged.
-
Protect people and field surroundings: Keep unprotected people away. Follow all field-water, aquatic and pollinator restrictions,
and avoid active bee-foraging periods. Prevent granules and contaminated runoff from reaching ponds, aquaculture or drains.
-
Check any proposed mixture: Do not add a fertiliser, pesticide or adjuvant unless both current labels permit the exact crop, method
and combination. A compatibility test alone cannot establish permission. The stated dry-sand carrier is not blanket approval for other
blends.
-
Record and plan separately: Record the crop, field, pest, date, treated area and product quantity. Plan harvest, worker entry and
any later treatment using their separate restrictions and both resistance groups.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I mix Bicota into a spray tank?
The rice programme here is even hand broadcasting with a measured dry carrier. GR granules are not a WG
spray concentrate. Do not dissolve them or make a tank recipe from the pack size.
2. Does one 5 kg pack always treat one acre?
Only where the supplied current Indian pack confirms the complete rice stem-borer programme shown here. It
uses 5 kg Bicota and 20 kg dry sand per acre, with the stated method, timing and harvest restriction. Pack size does not authorize
another crop, pest or field situation.
3. Are 15–20 days and 65 days the same waiting period?
No. The first is a treatment window after transplanting. The 65-day interval is the minimum time from the
final treatment to harvest. Worker re-entry and repeat-treatment timing are separate.
4. Can I use any fertiliser as the carrier?
Do not assume so. This guide retains the specific dry-sand option. Use any alternative only when the
supplied current pack expressly permits its identity, quantity and method; any pesticide or fertiliser combination must also be
permitted by both current labels.
5. Should I schedule two Bicota applications?
No. Two applications per crop cycle is a maximum, not a calendar recommendation. Do not use Bicota
back-to-back. Scout the crop, follow any stricter pack limit and account for both IRAC Groups 28 and 2B when selecting later
treatment.
Safety & Disclaimer
Before you use it: Read the supplied current Indian Bicota label and leaflet before use. Confirm the
exact crop, pest, granule programme and field conditions, and follow its hazard classification, handling, aquatic and pollinator
restrictions.
Wear nitrile or disposable gloves as directed, along with the pack-specified shoes, long trousers,
long-sleeved clothing and goggles. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, mouth, clothing, spilled granules and contaminated surfaces, and
