Apache - Fipronil 15% + Flonicamid 15% WDG - UPL
Apache Insecticide by UPL
Fipronil 15% + Flonicamid 15% w/w WDG. A two-active insecticide for the labelled pests in cotton and paddy.
What it controls: The listed sucking pests and bollworms in cotton, plus brown planthopper, green leafhopper, stem borer and leaf folder in paddy.
When to use it: At pest appearance during the vegetative to reproductive stages, within the supplied label directions.
What to include: Measure crop area, product and water; allow the crop-specific harvest interval and keep bees and water bodies protected.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
- 🧬Two different actions: Fipronil and flonicamid act through different insect control mechanisms, classified as Groups 2B and 29.
- 🌿Cotton sucking-pest coverage: The cotton recommendation includes aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies and mealybugs.
- 🐛Cotton bollworm coverage: Bollworms are included in the cotton recommendation, alongside the listed sucking pests.
- 🌾Paddy pest coverage: The paddy recommendation covers brown planthopper, green leafhopper, stem borer and leaf folder.
- 💧Water-dispersible formulation: The granules are dispersed in the specified water quantity for foliar spraying with suitable equipment.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Apache combines fipronil and flonicamid. Its two active ingredients have different IRAC classifications.
- Fipronil affects nerve signalling: Fipronil is a Group 2B phenylpyrazole that blocks GABA-gated chloride channels.
- Flonicamid affects sensory function: Flonicamid is classified in Group 29 as a chordotonal-organ nicotinamidase inhibitor, affecting the insect sensory system.
- Susceptible pests lose normal function: These different actions interfere with normal insect function and feeding, providing control within the labelled crop and pest scope.
Use the mode-of-action group when planning resistance management. Changing brands without changing the active-ingredient group is not a rotation. Follow label limits and local integrated pest-management advice.
Target Crops & Pests

Only the pest combinations in the leaflet’s recommendation table are listed here. Do not extend this guide to other pests or crops.
Dosage & Application Guide
Each row is a separate foliar-spray recommendation. Keep its product dose, water volume and harvest interval together.
Dosage per Acre, Litre, & Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)
| Crop | Dose (g / Acre) | Water (L / Acre) | Dose (g / Litre) | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cotton | Approx. 161.9 400 g/ha |
Approx. 202.3 500 L/ha |
See note* | 33 |
| Paddy | Approx. 161.9 400 g/ha |
Approx. 202.3 500 L/ha |
See note* | 30 |
Acre figures are approximate conversions of the hectare directions shown beneath them. Measure the treated area accurately.
*The leaflet gives area-based product and water quantities, not a separate per-litre rate. No per-litre or tank dose has been calculated. PHI is the minimum time between the last spray and harvest.
How to Apply: Best Practices
- Timing and route: Apply as a foliar spray immediately after pest occurrence, at the vegetative to reproductive stages.
- Mixing and equipment: Mix the measured product with a small quantity of clean water. Add the remaining recommended water with thorough agitation. Use a compression-knapsack or battery-operated compression-knapsack sprayer with a hollow-cone nozzle.
- Repeat applications: The leaflet allows 2–3 sprays depending on infestation. No fixed repeat interval is supplied here.
- Re-entry: The leaflet specifies a 24-hour re-entry period. Keep unprotected people out of the treated area during that period.
- Harvest planning: Allow at least 33 days after the last cotton spray or 30 days after the last paddy spray before harvest.
- Site and weather: Do not spray under unfavourable conditions or use in a confined area. Avoid circumstances that could harm bees, fish, livestock, wild birds or animals.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the active ingredients in Apache? The reviewed Indian leaflet identifies fipronil 15% and flonicamid 15% w/w in a water-dispersible granular formulation.
What is the dose per acre? Both listed crops use approximately 161.9 g product and 202.3 L water per acre, equivalent to 400 g and 500 L per hectare. Keep the correct crop targets and harvest interval with this rate.
Which paddy pests are included? The recommendation table lists brown planthopper, green leafhopper, stem borer and leaf folder. Do not extend that table to other pests.
Are the harvest intervals different?Yes. Cotton requires 33 days and paddy 30 days between the last spray and harvest. The leaflet also specifies 24 hours before re-entry.
