Anth 50 Insecticide by Krishi Rasayan

A chlorpyrifos 50% EC insecticide with separate cotton and rice programmes. Its structural termite directions are a different use and must not be treated as crop-spray rates.

Crop focus: Cotton bollworms and rice stem borer or leaf roller.

How it acts: Contact and stomach action through disruption of insect nerve function.

Important restriction: Chlorpyrifos is prohibited on ber, citrus and tobacco in India.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🌱Two defined crop programmes: The exact-brand leaflet separates cotton and rice instructions.
  • πŸ›Cotton bollworm control: A crop-specific treatment option where the supplied label permits it.
  • 🌾Rice pest coverage: The listed rice targets are stem borer and leaf roller.
  • 🎯Contact and feeding action: Susceptible insects are exposed on treated surfaces and while feeding.
  • πŸ“‹Distinct harvest intervals: The cotton and rice waiting periods must be observed separately.

Technical Specifications

Parameter Details
Brand Name Anth 50 by Krishi Rasayan
Composition chlorpyrifos 50% EC
Product Type Insecticide
Formulation EC: emulsifiable concentrate
Mode of Action Acetylcholinesterase inhibition
Application Route Foliar crop spray; separate structural termite use requires its own complete label programme

How It Works: Mode of Action

Chlorpyrifos interferes with acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that normally clears acetylcholine from nerve junctions.

  1. Exposure: Susceptible insects contact treated surfaces or feed on treated material.
  2. Enzyme inhibition: Chlorpyrifos prevents normal breakdown of the nerve messenger acetylcholine.
  3. Nerve disruption: The resulting overstimulation interrupts normal movement and other functions.

This is an organophosphate insecticide, not a systemic crop tonic. Rotate approved modes of action and do not assume that changing brands prevents resistance.

Target Crops & Pests

The manufacturer-hosted Anth 50 leaflet covers the following crop pests and a separate non-crop building treatment.

Crop Target Pest(s)
Cotton
  • Bollworms
Rice
  • Stem borer
  • Leaf roller (leaf folder)
Buildings
  • Termites: separate pre- and post-construction treatment, not a crop-spray programme

The building use concerns termites before and after construction. It requires the complete structural-treatment directions and trained advice; the crop table below cannot be used for buildings. Do not extend either use to an unlisted crop or site.

Dosage & Application Guide

The following are rounded acre equivalents of the Anth 50 leaflet’s agricultural rates, not a universal rate for every pest or site.

Crop-specific Dose, Water & Harvest Interval

Crop Target Product / acre Water / acre PHI
Cotton Bollworms 405–486 ml 202–405 L 30 days
Rice Stem borer; leaf roller 304–324 ml 202–405 L 15 days

Original leaflet quantities: cotton 1000–1200 ml/ha; rice 750–800 ml/ha. Both use 500–1000 L water/ha. Retain the cotton 30-day and rice 15-day harvest intervals.

The leaflet specifies 48 hours before re-entry. Its building programme contains treatment-specific dilution and surface/soil-volume instructions, which are not interchangeable with these hectare or acre rates.

Do not use on ber, citrus or tobacco. The website’s general 300–480 ml/acre figure does not replace the two crop-specific leaflet programmes. Confirm the supplied current pack and local restrictions before treatment.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Identify the use: Confirm cotton or rice and its listed pest. Keep structural termite treatment separate.
  • Measure accurately: Use the product quantity and water volume for the actual treated area, following the supplied pack.
  • Cover the crop: Use suitable calibrated spray equipment and prevent drift, runoff and contamination of ponds or waterways.
  • Observe intervals: Respect the crop harvest interval and re-entry instructions; do not add unapproved mixtures or repeat schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Anth 50?An emulsifiable concentrate containing chlorpyrifos 50%, not Anth-505 or Anth Super.

Is the cotton rate the same as the rice rate? No. The leaflet gives cotton 1000–1200 ml/ha and rice 750–800 ml/ha; acre equivalents are shown above.

How long must I wait before harvest? The published leaflet specifies 30 days for cotton and 15 days for rice. Follow the supplied current crop label.

Can it be used on citrus? No. Current national restrictions prohibit chlorpyrifos use on ber, citrus and tobacco.

Can the crop dose be used for building termites? No. The leaflet has a separate structural-treatment programme. Have the exact current site directions checked before any building treatment.

Safety & Disclaimer
