Ampligo - Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda-Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC - Syngenta
Ampligo Insecticide | Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda-Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC
A two-active foliar insecticide from Syngenta for the specified borers, caterpillars and other insect pests in six labelled crops.
What it controls: Pod borer, bollworms, shoot and fruit borer, leaf folder and other crop-specific pests listed below.
When to use it: At initial pest infestation reaching the economic threshold level, while respecting the flowering restrictions.
What to include: The crop-specific product dose, 500 L water/ha, thorough canopy coverage and a 48-hour re-entry interval.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
- 🎯Crop-specific pest coverage: The same formulation has labelled uses in pigeon pea, cotton, brinjal, rice, soybean and okra. Each crop has its own target list, product quantity and harvest interval, so the programme can be matched to the problem rather than treated as one universal dose.
- ⚡Rapid knockdown activity: Ampligo combines two insecticidal active ingredients and is described as providing rapid knockdown. This helps address active infestations, but visible speed and control still depend on susceptible pests, correct timing and good application.
- 🥚Activity against pest life stages: Syngenta describes egg-and-larva activity as well as activity against adults of susceptible pests. This supports targeting the infestation early, without claiming that every life stage of every insect in the field will be controlled.
- 🧬Two distinct biological targets: Chlorantraniliprole affects ryanodine receptors involved in muscle function, while lambda-cyhalothrin affects nerve sodium channels. The two modes are already combined in the product; a separate tank mixture is not needed to create this combination.
- 🛡️Sustained activity after treatment: The formulation is described as giving longer-lasting pest control alongside knockdown. This is a product characteristic, not a guaranteed number of protection days or a reason to ignore field scouting, the harvest interval or resistance-management advice.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Ampligo is a broad-spectrum foliar insecticide. Its two ingredients act on different nerve-and-muscle processes in susceptible insects, helping stop pest activity and feeding damage.
- Reach the target pest: Apply as a foliar spray with enough water and thorough agitation to distribute the product across the crop canopy. Even coverage is important; the presence of two active ingredients does not compensate for missed parts of the crop.
- Disrupt muscle and nerve function: Chlorantraniliprole, IRAC Group 28, modulates ryanodine receptors, disturbing normal muscle function. Lambda-cyhalothrin, IRAC Group 3A, modulates sodium channels and disrupts normal nerve signalling.
- Reduce feeding and pest survival: The combined effects provide knockdown and control of susceptible labelled pests. Continue scouting after treatment and use the crop-specific harvest interval before picking or harvesting.
Use Ampligo within an integrated pest-management programme. Rotate treatment windows with suitable registered products having different modes of action and do not use less than the labelled rate. A change of brand alone does not change IRAC Groups 28 and 3A.
Target Crops & Pests
Use only for the following crop-and-pest combinations. The rice target is green leaf hopper, not brown plant hopper.

| Pigeon pea (red gram) |
|
| Cotton |
|
| Brinjal |
|
| Rice |

Start at pest initiation reaching the economic threshold level (ETL). The leaflet allows one repeat spray after 10–15 days depending on pest severity. This is not a compulsory calendar spray, and the applicable harvest and flowering restrictions must still be met.
*No independent millilitre-per-litre or tank-size recipe is specified in the leaflet. Calibrate from the crop’s product quantity and the stated area-based water volume instead of assuming that one tank treats one acre.
PHI means the waiting period from the last application to harvest. It is different from the 48-hour re-entry period. Do not harvest earlier simply because insects are no longer visible.
How to Apply: Best Practices
- Identify the crop and the infestation: Check that both the crop and target pest occur together in the recommendation. Choose the relevant row before measuring product; cotton and rice must not automatically receive the quantity used for soybean or vegetables.
- Check the treatment window: Scout at the beginning of infestation and follow the locally assessed ETL. Avoid routine repeat treatments when they are not required, and leave enough time between the last spray and harvest for that crop.
- Respect the flowering exclusion: Do not spray flowering crops from 15 days before the start of flowering until flowering has ended. The product is toxic to honeybees, so application planning must account for this restriction as well as pest pressure.
- Measure and prepare the mixture: Mix the required product in a small amount of water, then add the remaining water with thorough agitation. Keep the formulation dose tied to the measured field area and use a suitable sprayer for total crop coverage.
- Apply with care: Wear protective clothing, gloves, mask, goggles, boots and face protection when handling the product. Avoid inhaling spray or vapour and keep it off the skin and eyes. Never use cooking utensils or blow blocked nozzles with the mouth.
- Protect water and keep people out: Prevent spray drift, spills and equipment washings from reaching ponds, streams or other water bodies. Keep people out of the treated area for 48 hours, and follow any stricter directions on the supplied pack.
- Assess before a repeat: If pest severity justifies the leaflet’s one repeat, follow the 10–15-day interval without compromising the PHI or flowering exclusion. Do not add an unverified tank partner or shorten the interval to compensate for poor coverage.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the Ampligo dose the same for every crop? No. The leaflet specifies 200 ml/ha for pigeon pea, brinjal, soybean and okra; 250 ml/ha for cotton; and 200–250 ml/ha for rice. All six use 500 L water/ha. Use the converted acre row only as a guide and calibrate to the actual area. The quantity of active ingredient shown on a label is not the volume of formulated product to pour.
2. Does Ampligo cover brown plant hopper in rice?Brown plant hopper is not included in the rice recommendation used here. The listed rice pests are stem borer, leaf folder and green leaf hopper. Similar pest names are not interchangeable, so identify the insect before choosing the product.
3. When should I spray, and can I repeat it?Begin at initial pest infestation reaching ETL. The leaflet permits one repeat after 10–15 days depending on pest severity, not an unlimited repeated-spray programme. Check the flowering exclusion and the crop-specific harvest interval before either application.
4. Can I spray Ampligo during flowering? No. The leaflet excludes spraying from 15 days before flowering begins through the end of flowering because of honeybee toxicity. Plan control around this restriction and obtain crop-specific advice if the pest appears during the excluded period rather than disregarding it.
5. Is the harvest interval also the worker re-entry interval? No. Workers must observe the leaflet’s 48-hour re-entry interval. Harvest waiting periods are separately crop-specific: 18 days for pigeon pea, 20 for cotton, 5 for brinjal, 53 for rice, 41 for soybean and 3 for okra, measured from the last application. Neither interval replaces the other.
