Ahead - Fipronil 80% WG - Parijat
Ahead Insecticide by
Parijat
Fipronil 80% WG for the specified crop–pest
combinations.
What it controls: Stem borer and leaf folder in rice, thrips in grapes and onion,
and diamondback moth in cabbage.
When to start: Apply the first foliar spray when the target pest infestation
begins.
How to prepare it: Disperse the WG granules in water for spraying. These are not
granules for direct soil broadcasting.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
-
🎯 Chewing and sucking pest control: Targets
the specific rice, grape, onion and cabbage pests shown below, including thrips and diamondback moth.
-
🛡️ Contact and feeding activity: Target
insects can encounter the treatment through contact or by feeding on treated material.
-
🍃 Some movement within the plant: Partial
systemic activity complements contact and feeding action. It does not remove the need for uniform spray coverage.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Fipronil interferes with the signals that keep an insect’s nerve
activity in balance.
-
Exposure: Susceptible target insects encounter the insecticide through contact or feeding on treated material.
-
Nerve-channel blocking: Fipronil blocks GABA-gated chloride channels, tiny pathways involved in regulating nerve signals.
-
Loss of nerve control: Excessive nerve activity disrupts normal function and leads to the death of susceptible insects.
Changing to another fipronil brand does not change IRAC Group 2B.
Use the action group when planning resistance management; it does not specify a safe repeat interval or tank
mixture.

Dosage & Application Guide
Use the first-treatment rows below at the onset of the target pest
infestation. Product and water quantities must cover the same field area.
First Foliar Treatment: Dose, Water & Pre-Harvest Interval
| Crop and target |
Product dose |

First application |
PHI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Onion — thrips |
75 g/ha; approximately 30.35 g/acre |
500 L/ha; approximately 202.34 L/acre |
At the onset of pest infestation |
15 days |
| Cabbage — diamondback moth |
93.75 g/ha; approximately 37.94 g/acre |
500 L/ha; approximately 202.34 L/acre |
At the onset of pest infestation |
15 days |
Acre quantities are approximate conversions of the hectare rates,
rounded to two decimal places. PHI is the minimum time between the last application and harvest. The 15-day interval applies to these
onion and cabbage uses.
How to Apply: Best Practices
-
Start at pest onset: Check the crop for its named target pest and apply the first treatment when infestation begins.
-
Measure product and area: Weigh the granules in grams and use the matching water rate for the treated area. Do not measure this dry
formulation in millilitres.
-
Prepare for foliar spraying: Follow the WG mixing sequence on the supplied pack. Do not broadcast the granules directly onto
soil.
-
Use suitable equipment: Apply uniformly with a hand-operated knapsack sprayer fitted with a hollow-cone or triple-action
nozzle.
-
Check the weather and harvest plan: Do not spray in foggy conditions. Observe the crop-specific harvest interval and separate
re-entry instructions.
-
Review before repeating or mixing: Check the supplied pack for further-treatment limits. Use a tank mixture only when both current
labels permit the exact partner, crop and application method. Do
not use an automatic weekly schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can Ahead WG be broadcast as dry granules?
No. WG means water-dispersible granules. Ahead is prepared in water for foliar spraying, unlike a GR field
granule.
2. When should I apply the first treatment?
Start when the target pest infestation begins. This first-treatment trigger does not prescribe how many
later sprays to make.
3. Can I transfer the onion dose to grape thrips?
No. The same pest name does not make different crops’ rates and harvest intervals interchangeable. Follow
the separate grape directions on the supplied pack.
4. How soon can I harvest onion or cabbage?
Wait at least 15 days after the last application for the onion and cabbage uses shown. Do not transfer that
interval to rice or grapes.
5. Can I calculate a dose from a 15-litre tank alone?
No. An area-based rate also depends on the area covered by the calibrated sprayer. Keep the product and
water rates paired rather than guessing a tank quantity.
Safety & Disclaimer
