Mesozin Xtra Herbicide by AgroStar | 1.4 litres

A two-active post-emergence herbicide for the specified grasses, broadleaf weeds and sedges in maize and sugarcane. Obtain clarified current product and water directions from AgroStar before measuring; do not estimate a dose from pack size.

Crop scope: Maize and sugarcane, each with the exact weed targets below.

First timing: The 3–4-leaf stage of actively growing weeds, not crop leaves or a universal sowing-day interval.

Application limit: Maximum one application; 24-hour human re-entry and separate crop-specific harvest intervals.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🌽  Two named crop uses: The own-brand leaflet distinguishes maize and sugarcane weed targets.
  • 🧪  Premixed active ingredients: Two herbicide modes of action are combined in one SC formulation; premix does not mean ready to spray.
  • 🌱  Weed-stage-led treatment: Post-emergence use is tied to actively growing weeds at the stated leaf stage.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Mesozin Xtra combines two herbicidal target sites. A different pack size or another brand with the same modes of action is not resistance rotation.

  1. Mesotrione: HRAC 27: A triketone that inhibits HPPD, affecting processes that protect photosynthetic pigments in susceptible weeds.
  2. Atrazine: HRAC 5: A triazine that inhibits photosynthesis. It does not turn the product into an all-crop or all-weed treatment.
  3. Resistance planning: Do not continuously rely on the same modes of action in the same or next crop season. Seek approved effective different-mode options and integrated weed-management advice; do not repeat this product or improvise a mixture.

Target Crops & Weeds

Use only the exact crop–target pairs and application routes in the current supplied label.

Crop
Target Weed(s)
Maize
Trianthema spp.; Cyperus spp.; Digitaria sanguinalis; Echinochloa spp.; Dactyloctenium aegyptium.
Sugarcane
Trianthema spp.; Amaranthus viridis; Echinochloa colona; Digitaria sanguinalis; Cyperus rotundus; Dactyloctenium aegyptium.

Dosage & Application Guide

Obtain clarified current product and water quantities from AgroStar or the manufacturer before use. Do not choose between inconsistent dose information, convert a bottle into an acreage claim, or borrow another product’s programme. No numerical mixing recipe is provided here.

Application Requirements

Requirement
What to Confirm or Observe
Product and water
Confirm a consistent formulated-product quantity and matching water volume for the measured area before preparing spray.
First timing and route
Post-emergence foliar spray at the 3–4-leaf stage of actively growing weeds, covering weed foliage. This is not a crop-leaf-stage rule.
Number of applications
Maximum one application. Do not invent a repeat interval or increase the rate for survivors.
Harvest and worker entry
Maize: 42 days from last application to harvest. Sugarcane: 190 days. Do not enter treated areas for 24 hours after spray.
Mixing partners
Do not tank-mix with any other chemical. The premix identity does not permit extra herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, fertilizer or adjuvant additions.

Rotational crops: The leaflet names maize followed by rapeseed–mustard, wheat or barley, and sugarcane followed by black gram, moong bean or mustard. No numerical plant-back interval is supplied; confirm current directions before the next crop.

Coverage and conditions: Use a knapsack or suitable sprayer with a flat-fan or flood-jet deflector nozzle. Avoid overlaps and drift; no fixed rainfast interval, season-long control or pack-area guarantee is implied.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Resolve quantities first: Match Mesozin Xtra’s exact formulation, crop and target. Obtain clarified product and water directions before measuring or mixing.
  • Check weeds and conditions: Use the 3–4-leaf stage of actively growing weeds with sufficient soil moisture. Do not spray a stressed crop, in wind or hot hours, on wet foliage or when rain is imminent.
  • Prepare only as directed: Once quantities are confirmed, premix with a small quantity of water, then add the remaining specified water with thorough agitation. Do not use cooking utensils or bare hands.
  • Apply evenly: Use the stated knapsack/suitable sprayer and flat-fan or flood-jet deflector nozzle for thorough weed-foliage coverage. Avoid overlapping passes and off-target drift.
  • Keep restrictions together: Do not add any other chemical. Record the single application, crop-specific harvest interval and 24-hour human re-entry period. Keep newly treated areas ungrazed and livestock out until dry.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does premix mean ready to spray?
No. The active ingredients are combined in a suspension concentrate. Use only clarified current product, water and agitation directions.
2. Why is no numerical mixing recipe provided?
Confirm consistent exact-product quantities with AgroStar or the manufacturer before measuring. Do not select one conflicting figure, borrow another brand’s rate or infer a dose from the 1.4 litres pack.
3. Does the 3–4-leaf stage refer to maize or sugarcane?
It refers to actively growing weeds, not crop leaves. No universal days-after-sowing date replaces that trigger.
4. Can I repeat the spray or add another chemical?
No. The leaflet limits use to one application and prohibits tank mixing with any other chemical. Have surviving weeds assessed before selecting another approved control measure.
5. Are return-to-field and harvest intervals the same?
No. Human re-entry is after the stated 24-hour exclusion. Harvest intervals are 42 days for maize and 190 days for sugarcane. Keep livestock out of newly treated areas until dry; these are separate restrictions.

Safety & Disclaimer

Before you use it: Read the current supplied pack label and leaflet. Match the crop, target, formulation, route, first-treatment timing, product quantity, water or placement basis, harvest interval and worker-entry restrictions. This overview does not replace the label or authenticate a batch.

The leaflet warns of skin sensitisation; the SDS also identifies eye irritation and possible organ damage from prolonged or repeated exposure. Wear the specified protective clothing, chemical-resistant gloves, mask/respiratory protection, goggles, hat and boots. Avoid breathing spray and skin or eye contact. Do not eat, drink or smoke; wash after handling and clean contaminated clothing separately.

Highly toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Avoid use near aquaculture and prevent drift, spills, runoff, rinsate and waste entering drains or water sources. Keep children, animals and unprotected people away. Do not enter treated areas for 24 hours; keep livestock out and newly treated areas ungrazed until dry.

Use only compatible preparation equipment. The SDS excludes galvanized steel, carbon steel and aluminium for concentrate, and brass/cast-iron fittings; it specifies plastic, plastic-lined steel, stainless steel or fiberglass/plastic for spray solutions. Avoid strong acids, alkalis and oxidizers. Never blow through a nozzle with your mouth.

Store tightly closed in the original pack in a cool, dry, ventilated, secure place away from food, feed, children and animals. Protect from direct sunlight and freezing. Do not reuse empty containers; use authorised label-compliant disposal without contaminating soil or water.

If exposure or illness occurs, stop work and seek urgent medical help with the label or container. Move away from exposure, remove contaminated clothing, wash skin and rinse exposed eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting, give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or attempt charcoal or antidote treatment yourself.
