Agil - Propaquizafop 10% EC - ADAMA
Agil | Propaquizafop 10% EC Grass Herbicide
ADAMA Agil is a selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide for susceptible annual and perennial grass
weeds in permitted broadleaf crops.
Weed focus: Susceptible grass weeds, not a blanket treatment for broadleaf weeds or
sedges.
First-treatment window: Target grasses at the 2–4-leaf stage and actively growing,
together with the specific crop-day window below.
Exact product: Propaquizafop 10% EC, a liquid concentrate. Do not transfer
quantities from another grass herbicide or a mixture.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
-
🌿 Selective grass-weed control: Provides an
option for susceptible annual and perennial grasses in the permitted broadleaf crops.
-
🍃 Systemic movement to growing points: After
leaf uptake, the ingredient moves toward growing tissues in the weed’s leaves and roots.
-
🌱 A defined early weed-stage window: Positions treatment while grasses are actively growing at the 2–4-leaf stage, with the crop’s day window checked at the same time.

How It Works: Mode of Action
-
Absorption through weed leaves: The ingredient is absorbed by treated leaves of susceptible grass weeds.
-
Movement to growing tissues: It moves from the foliage to growing points in the leaves and roots.
-
Fatty-acid production is interrupted: Propaquizafop inhibits ACCase, an enzyme needed for fatty-acid synthesis, disrupting normal
growth in susceptible grasses.
Systemic movement does not make every crop safe to treat. Account for HRAC Group 1 in previous and later
treatments; changing to another Group 1 brand is not a new mode of action. Visible effects vary, and no fixed speed or
resistance-proof result is promised.

Match the crop and exact weed to the current Agil pack. The black gram numerical row below covers its four
named grasses only; confirm a separate complete programme before treating Echinochloa crus-galli in black gram. Do not extend use to
grass crops or assume activity against broadleaf weeds and sedges.

Each row is one complete crop-and-weed programme, not interchangeable product and water choices. Acre figures
are approximate conversions of the hectare quantities shown. For permitted Agil uses, use a single application and allow at least 24
hours before re-entry. PHI is the minimum interval from the final application to harvest, not a repeat or re-entry interval. Confirm
the current pack agrees before use; do not derive a per-litre or tank recipe from this table.
Other crops: water & harvest safeguards: For jute, cotton, groundnut, tomato, cluster bean,
chickpea, chilli and sesamum, retain the crop-specific water volume of 500 L/ha (approximately 202.34 L/acre). Minimum intervals from
the final application to harvest are: jute, 87 days; cotton, 115 days; groundnut, 97 days; tomato, 31 days; cluster bean, 63 days;
chickpea, 39 days; chilli, 31 days; sesamum, 59 days. These are water and harvest safeguards, not a product quantity or a complete
application programme. Obtain the complete current crop-and-weed directions, including the product amount, before
treatment.
How to Apply: Best Practices
-
Meet both the crop and weed windows: For soybean and black gram, use 15–20 days after sowing; for onion, 15 days after
transplanting. In each case the target grasses must also be actively growing at the 2–4-leaf stage. Neither condition replaces the
other.
-
Keep other crop timings separate: Subject to the complete current crop directions and the same 2–4-leaf actively growing weed
stage: tomato and chilli, 20 days after transplanting; jute, cluster bean, chickpea and sesamum, 20 days after sowing; groundnut, 22 days
after sowing; cotton, 25 days after sowing. These timing facts alone are not a complete dosing programme.
-
Shake, measure and agitate: Shake the bottle before use. Measure the required product and mix it well with a small quantity of
water, then add the remaining specified water with thorough agitation. Calibrate the equipment for the treated area.
-
Use the foliar equipment specified: Use suitable high-volume or knapsack spraying equipment with a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle, as
permitted on the current pack. Follow its equipment and coverage instructions rather than changing to soil or seed treatment.
-
Choose safe weather and protect water: Prefer morning or evening. Do not spray during rain, windy conditions or hot sunny periods.
Work in the wind direction without allowing drift onto people or non-target plants. The product is toxic to fish; do not use around
aquaculture.
-
Keep the rain and mixture limits clear: Rainfall one hour after application is not expected to affect product activity, but this is
not permission to spray in rain or disregard the weather restrictions. Use a mixture only when both current labels permit the proposed
combination for the crop and use. Physical compatibility alone is not permission.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will Agil remove broadleaf weeds and sedges?
Its focus is susceptible grasses. Identify the actual weeds and match the crop-specific list; do not treat a
grass herbicide as a general broadleaf-weed or sedge treatment.
2. Can I use the 2–4-leaf stage instead of the crop-day window?
No. Meet both conditions: the crop’s stated day after sowing or transplanting and actively growing target
grasses at the 2–4-leaf stage. Both conditions must be met; a fixed day alone is not enough.
3. Can I apply the three numerical rows to the other crops?
No. The soybean, black gram and onion rows have their own named target grasses and complete quantities. Do
not transfer those product amounts to the other crops. The separate water volumes and harvest intervals are safeguards, not a product
quantity or a complete application programme. Obtain the complete current Agil directions for the crop and weed before applying.
4. What do single application, 24-hour re-entry and PHI mean?
For permitted Agil uses, apply once and keep re-entry to at least 24 hours after application. The separate
PHI is 21 days for soybean and black gram and 7 days for onion, measured from final application to harvest. Do not use PHI as a
repeat-spray interval.
5. Is the one-hour rain statement permission to spray before rain?
No. It describes product activity after application, not a replacement for the instruction not to spray in
rainy, windy or hot sunny conditions. Check the forecast and current pack; no automatic respray instruction follows from rainfall.
Safety & Disclaimer
Before you use it: Read the current Indian Agil label and leaflet before handling or use, including
crop and weed permission, both application-stage conditions, area rate, water, nozzles, mixing, protective equipment, weather,
re-entry, harvest, first-aid, storage and disposal. Do not use around aquaculture; the product is toxic to fish.
Wear the protective clothing and equipment required on the pack. Prevent skin, eye and mouth contact and
inhalation exposure, including dust, spray mist, fog or vapour as applicable. Do not mix with bare hands or eat, drink, smoke or
chew while handling or applying the product. Wash thoroughly afterwards, including contaminated clothing, and keep people and
animals away from treatment as directed.
Keep Agil in its original labelled container under lock and key, away from children, food, empty food
containers and animal feed. Store separately from other articles in a cool, dry, well-lit and well-ventilated place, away from
heat and open flame. Prevent contamination of water, drains and non-target plants; follow equipment-cleaning and current
label/local disposal requirements and never reuse empty containers. If exposure or illness occurs, stop work and seek medical help
promptly with the product label. Remove contaminated clothing and wash exposed skin with plenty of soap and water. Flush exposed
eyes with plenty of clean water for 10–15 minutes. After inhalation, move to fresh air if it is safe to do so. No specific
antidote is known; treatment must be directed by a medical professional. Do not attempt an improvised antidote or home
treatment.
