Agetate Gold Insecticide by AgroStar | 250 g

AgroStar Agetate Gold is a soluble-powder insecticide for listed sucking pests and bollworms in cotton. This listing is the 250 g pack.

Active ingredients: Acephate 50% w/w + Imidacloprid 1.8% w/w SP.

What it controls: Cotton aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies and bollworms.

Check the formulation: SP means soluble powder. Directions for other acephate or imidacloprid products are not interchangeable.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🎯  Multiple cotton pests: The cotton use covers the five pest groups listed below.
  • 🌿  Contact and systemic activity: AgroStar describes both contact action and activity within the plant.
  • 💧  Soluble-powder formulation: The measured SP product is mixed with water for foliar application.
  • 🔬  Two active ingredients: Acephate and imidacloprid act at different insect nerve-system targets.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Both active ingredients affect insect nerve function, but they act at different targets.

  1. Acephate, Group 1B: An organophosphate acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. It disrupts the normal breakdown of a chemical used in insect nerve signalling.
  2. Imidacloprid, Group 4A: A neonicotinoid nicotinic acetylcholine receptor competitive modulator. It disrupts normal signalling at these nerve receptors.
  3. Plan for both groups: Consider Groups 1B and 4A when choosing label-approved rotation partners with a qualified crop adviser. Two ingredients do not make control resistance-proof.

Target Crops & Pests

Use the crop and pests specified on the supplied label. This is not an all-crop or all-pest recommendation.

Dosage & Application Guide

The quantities below are for the formulated product, not the active ingredients. Use only for the cotton pests in the target table, by the application method and timing below.

Acre quantities are approximate conversions of the leaflet’s hectare rates, not separately labelled rates. One hectare is approximately 2.471 acres. The original hectare quantities are retained in the table. Do not treat the pack size as a one-acre dose or turn these figures into a universal per-litre or per-pump recipe.

Timing and entry: Start when the listed insect pests first appear. Further sprays may be 7–10 days apart depending on pest pressure; this is not an automatic spray schedule. Follow the current pack’s maximum-treatment and re-entry restrictions. A repeat interval is not permission for unlimited sprays or immediate re-entry.

Pre-harvest interval (PHI): Wait 40 days from the final spray to harvest. The harvest interval is separate from worker re-entry.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Match the label: Check Agetate Gold, its exact SP composition, cotton and the intended listed pest before treatment. Do not use this cotton programme for paddy or another crop.
  • Mix carefully: Premix the measured product with a little water and stir with a stick. Add the remaining water and stir thoroughly. Never mix with bare hands.
  • Use suitable equipment: Use a calibrated high-volume knapsack or foot sprayer; the leaflet also permits a tractor-mounted sprayer. Maintain the stated hectare-based product and water quantities.
  • Monitor pest pressure: Time the first spray to pest appearance and any later treatment to pest pressure and the current label. Do not spray during active bee foraging.
  • Observe restrictions: Keep the 40-day interval from the last spray to harvest. Obtain and follow the current pack’s re-entry and maximum-treatment directions; do not assume unrestricted access or unlimited sprays.

Do not assume compatibility with every fungicide or pesticide. Avoid acids, alkalis and oxidising agents as stated in the safety data sheet, and use only mixtures permitted by the relevant labels.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the 250 g pack a one-acre dose?
No. Pack weight is the sale quantity. The cotton leaflet rate is 1,000 g/ha, approximately 405 g/acre. Match the measured area, product amount and water volume rather than using a whole pack by default.
2. Can I use this cotton programme on paddy?
No. Use only on the crops and pests authorised by the current supplied label. The cotton instructions on this page must not be transferred to paddy or another crop.
3. Can I mix it with any fungicide?
Do not assume universal compatibility. The safety data sheet identifies acids, alkalis and oxidising agents as materials to avoid. Follow both current labels and obtain product-specific advice before mixing.
4. Will switching brands prevent resistance?
Not necessarily. Another brand may contain the same actives or IRAC groups. Plan rotation around both Groups 1B and 4A with qualified crop advice, not brand names alone.
5. Can workers return as soon as spraying finishes?
Do not assume immediate re-entry. Follow the current pack’s worker-entry restrictions and protective measures. The 40-day harvest interval is a separate restriction, not a re-entry instruction.

Safety & Disclaimer

Before you use it: Read the current supplied label and leaflet, and match the crop, pest, formulation, dose, water, route, timing and all restrictions. If the pack differs from this overview, resolve the difference with the supplier or a qualified crop adviser before use. This page does not authenticate an individual pack or replace label directions.

Wear the label-specified protective clothing, chemical-resistant gloves, boots and eye/face protection. Avoid dust and spray inhalation and contact with skin or eyes. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling. Wash after use and clean contaminated clothing. Keep children and unprotected people away.

Protect bees and water. Do not spray during active bee foraging. Keep product, drift, spills and equipment washings out of drains and water bodies. Store the original closed container in a cool, dry, ventilated, locked place away from children, food and feed and ignition sources.

Never reuse empty packaging. Follow the current label and local disposal requirements. If exposure or illness occurs, seek urgent medical help and show the product pack or label. Do not induce vomiting unless a doctor directs it.
