ADAMA Agas Insecticide-Acaricide Overview

ADAMA Agas contains Diafenthiuron 50% WP, an IRAC Group 12A insecticide and acaricide for label-approved control of selected sucking pests, mites and caterpillar pests.

Agas acts through contact and ingestion and has translaminar movement through treated leaves. ADAMA also describes vapour activity and some ovicidal activity. It is not Hexaconazole, a fungicide or a disease-control product. Apply only to the registered crop and pest at the rate, water volume and pre-harvest interval on the supplied Indian label.

What stands outKey Features
  • Insect and mite activity: Registered targets include whiteflies, aphids, thrips, jassids, mites, diamondback moth and capsule borer.
  • Contact and stomach action: Susceptible pests are exposed by contact with deposits or by feeding on treated plant tissue.
  • Translaminar movement: Movement across treated leaf tissue can improve reach to pests on the opposite leaf surface; this is not a claim of full systemic protection.
  • Defined mode of action: IRAC Group 12A identification supports label-compliant resistance planning.
  • Crop-specific directions: Registered rates, water volumes and PHIs differ by crop and must not be replaced with a generic per-acre or per-pump dose.

Product scienceHow It Works
  1. Exposure: Diafenthiuron reaches susceptible pests by contact and feeding, with movement through treated leaf tissue.
  2. Energy disruption: Its active form inhibits mitochondrial ATP synthase, interfering with production of cellular energy.
  3. Control: Energy depletion disrupts essential functions in susceptible insects and mites.

Agas is not a fungicide and does not control rice blast, sheath blight or other plant diseases. It should not be described as fully systemic or as protecting untreated new growth.

PHI = pre-harvest interval. Hectare values are retained as published; no per-acre, per-pump or general per-litre conversion has been inferred. The central compilation's citrus water-volume entry is ambiguous, so the supplied Agas leaflet must be checked before citrus application.

How to applyApplication Best Practices
  • Identify the target: Confirm the pest and crop are present in the registered-use table.
  • Measure and mix: Wear the label-specified PPE, prepare the WP suspension in the stated mixing order and maintain agitation as directed.
  • Coverage: Use calibrated equipment and the registered water volume to cover the target leaf surfaces without runoff or drift.
  • Pollinators: Do not spray while bees are actively foraging, and follow all label precautions for flowering crops.
  • Water protection: Keep spray, equipment washings and surplus product out of ponds, streams, drains and irrigation water.
Useful detailsResistance Management

Repeated use of IRAC Group 12A can select resistant pests. Use integrated pest management and rotate to a different effective IRAC group only when the alternative product's own label covers the same crop and pest. A same-active Diafenthiuron product is a comparison alternative, not a different-mode rotation partner.

Use with careSafety & Disclaimer

Read the complete supplied label before use. Wear protective clothing, gloves, mask, goggles and boots as directed; avoid inhalation and contact with skin or eyes; do not eat, drink or smoke while handling; and never clear a nozzle by mouth. Store locked in the original labelled container away from food and feed. No specific antidote is stated in the consulted leaflet; suspected poisoning requires immediate medical attention and symptomatic treatment by a clinician. Dispose of containers and residues only as directed by the label and local rules. The current Indian label and registration conditions take precedence over this summary.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Agas a fungicide?

No. ADAMA Agas contains Diafenthiuron 50% WP and is an insecticide-acaricide; it is not Hexaconazole and does not control fungal diseases.

2. Does Agas control mites?

Yes, on the crops and mite targets specifically listed on the current label, including registered uses in chilli, citrus and selected vegetables.

3. Is it systemic?

Agas has translaminar movement through treated leaf tissue, but this should not be interpreted as full systemic movement or protection of unsprayed new growth.

4. Can I use a generic dose for every crop?

No. Rates, water volumes and PHIs vary, and the citrus water-volume direction must be confirmed from the current pack leaflet.

5. Can Agas be tank-mixed?

Only when both supplied labels permit the combination and qualified agronomic advice confirms compatibility.
