AgroStar Abectis Insecticide & Miticide – 50 ml

Abectis contains abamectin 1.9% w/w EC for the label-listed mite uses in grapes and ornamental roses. It acts through contact and feeding, with movement into treated leaf tissue.

What it controls: Mites in grapes; two-spotted and red spider mites in ornamental roses.

Formulation: EC (emulsifiable concentrate) for foliar application.

Pack size: 50 ml.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🎯  Mite-focused crop uses: The leaflet pairs grape mites and ornamental-rose spider mites with their own use directions.
  • 🍃  Translaminar movement: The active ingredient moves into treated leaf tissue; this is not a claim of movement throughout the whole plant.
  • 🔬  Contact and stomach action: Abectis acts when susceptible pests contact the treatment or ingest it while feeding.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Abamectin affects nerve and muscle signalling in susceptible pests. It belongs to IRAC Group 6, the glutamate-gated chloride channel allosteric modulators.

  1. Reaches the treated leaf: Foliar application provides contact and stomach action, with translaminar movement into the treated leaf.
  2. Acts on chloride channels: Abamectin changes the activity of glutamate-gated chloride channels in pest nerve and muscle cells.
  3. Disrupts normal movement: This interferes with normal signalling and causes paralysis in susceptible pests.

Changing brand names is not a change of mode of action. Use crop monitoring and qualified local advice to plan label-compliant resistance management; avoid relying repeatedly on Group 6 alone.

Target Crops & Pests

Use only for the crop and pest combinations on the current supplied label. Rose use is restricted to ornamental production, not roses grown for food or other non-ornamental purposes.

Dosage & Application Guide

The complete rate below is for foliar control of mites in grapes. Keep its concentration, water volume, timing and harvest interval together. For ornamental roses, follow the current pack directions for the specific mite; do not transfer the grape rate.

Grapes / mites

Grape application: Spray at the first observed incidence of mites, using a high-volume knapsack sprayer with a hollow-cone nozzle or a power-operated sprayer. The leaflet permits repeat application as necessary; follow the current pack directions and qualified local advice before repeating. This is not a fixed or unlimited repeat schedule.

PHI is the time from the final spray to harvest. The 3-day value belongs to the grape programme above, not to every crop or use. The water conversion is approximate; the original hectare range is retained. Do not infer a fixed product amount per acre or pack coverage from the pack size.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Check the pack: Match Abectis, abamectin 1.9% EC, your crop and the target mite before treatment.
  • Keep the programme together: Follow the same crop-specific label for product concentration, water, equipment, timing and harvest precautions.
  • Use the stated spray equipment: Use a high-volume knapsack sprayer with a hollow-cone nozzle or a power-operated sprayer, as directed in the leaflet.
  • Do not mix with insecticides or PGRs: The leaflet prohibits these combinations. Do not assume that every fungicide is a suitable tank-mix partner; check the exact products and their directions before mixing.
  • Protect people and surroundings: Wear label-directed protection, avoid inhaling spray, prevent drift and runoff, and keep spray away from aquaculture and bees during active foraging.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which crops and mites are listed for Abectis?
Grapes for mites, and ornamental roses for two-spotted and red spider mites. Do not extend these uses to other crops or to roses grown for non-ornamental purposes.
2. What does translaminar action mean?
It means the active ingredient moves into the leaf tissue that receives the spray. It does not mean that Abectis moves throughout the whole plant.
3. Can I mix Abectis with another insecticide or a plant growth regulator?
No. The leaflet says not to combine it with insecticides or plant growth regulators (PGRs). Do not treat a general fungicide-compatibility claim as approval for every possible mixture.
4. Can I use one dose or pack-coverage estimate for both crops?
No. Follow the complete crop-and-mite-specific directions. The grape rate is a concentration in spray water, not a fixed amount per acre, and pack size alone does not establish coverage.
5. How should I plan harvest and repeat treatments?
Use the crop-specific harvest interval after the final spray, including the grape interval in the table above. Repeat treatment is need-based and must follow the current pack and qualified local advice; do not invent a fixed interval or assume unlimited repeats.

Safety & Disclaimer

Read the current supplied label and leaflet before use. This overview does not replace the complete crop-specific directions, re-entry precautions or qualified agricultural advice. Keep the Abectis leaflet and safety data sheet available.

Wear the protective clothing, chemical-resistant gloves, eye/face protection and respiratory protection directed by the label. Avoid skin and eye contact and breathing spray. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling. Wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing after use.

This product is toxic to fish, invertebrates, birds and bees. Keep it away from aquaculture and bees during active foraging. Prevent spills, spray drift and washings from entering drains or water bodies. Follow the label and local requirements for disposal; do not reuse empty containers.

Store tightly closed in the original labelled container in a locked, cool, dry, ventilated place, away from children, food, feed, seeds and ignition sources. If exposure or poisoning is suspected, seek medical help promptly and take the product label or container. Do not induce vomiting unless a medical professional directs it.
