Abaddon - Abamectin 1.9% EC - Parijat
Abaddon Insecticide & Acaricide by
Parijat
Abamectin 1.9% EC for mite control in grapes and
rose.
What it controls: Mites in grapes and two-spotted spider mites / red spider mites
(Tetranychus urticae) in rose.
When to use it: During vegetative and flowering stages, when mite infestation
reaches the treatment threshold assessed for the crop.
How it is applied: A foliar spray with even coverage of the crop
canopy.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
-
🎯 Mite-focused treatment: Targets mites in
grapes and the named spider mite in rose. Identify the pest before choosing a treatment.
-
🍃 Movement into treated leaves: Abamectin
penetrates leaf tissue, where feeding mites can encounter it. Good foliage coverage remains important.
-
🛡️ Contact and feeding activity: Mites can
encounter the treatment through contact or by feeding on treated tissue; action is not limited to a droplet landing directly on a
mite.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Abamectin enters treated leaf tissue and disrupts the mite’s nerve
signals.
-
Leaf penetration: The active ingredient moves into a treated leaf. This is local leaf penetration, not protection spreading
throughout the whole plant or into all new growth.
-
Exposure: Mites encounter the treatment through contact and feeding. Missed foliage cannot be assumed protected.
-
Nerve action: Abamectin changes the activity of glutamate-gated chloride channels, which help control nerve signals. This disrupts
normal nerve function and causes paralysis.
For resistance management, compare IRAC groups as well as brand
names. Another abamectin product remains Group 6; choose later treatments using crop-specific resistance-management
advice.

Dosage & Application Guide
The grape rate is a concentration in spray water, not an acre
rate. Apply as a foliar spray with enough mixture for total crop coverage.

PHI is the minimum time from the last spray to harvest. It is
separate from worker re-entry and does not set a repeat-spray interval. Keep grape and rose application directions
separate.
How to Apply: Best Practices
-
Assess the infestation: Check mite numbers and crop stage with crop-specific local advice before treatment. Use the economic
threshold, not an automatic calendar schedule.
-
Prepare the spray: Premix the measured product with a small quantity of water, then add the remaining water with thorough
agitation.
-
Choose the equipment: Use a knapsack sprayer with a hollow-cone nozzle or a power-operated sprayer, calibrated for even coverage of
the crop.
-
Reach the foliage: Cover the crop canopy thoroughly. Leaf penetration does not replace coverage of the leaves being treated.
-
Keep later operations separate: Record the spray date, observe the grape harvest interval and follow the pack’s separate re-entry,
repeat-treatment and mixing directions.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does Abaddon move throughout the whole plant?
Its useful movement is into treated leaves, often called translaminar activity. Do not assume untreated
leaves or fresh growth are protected.
2. Is 0.75 ml/L an acre rate?
No. It is the product concentration in the grape spray water. The area treated depends on the calibrated
application and crop coverage, not tank capacity alone.
3. Can I use the grape dilution on rose?
Do not transfer a grape rate to rose. Follow the separate rose instructions on the supplied Abaddon
label.
4. Does changing brand change the action group?
Not when the active ingredient is still abamectin. It remains IRAC Group 6; compare action groups when
planning later treatments.
5. Does the 3-day grape PHI also set re-entry or repeat timing?
No. PHI controls the interval before harvest. Worker re-entry, another spray and tank-mix compatibility
have separate directions.
Safety & Disclaimer
Before you use it: Read the supplied Abaddon label and leaflet. Follow their protective-equipment,
handling, storage, re-entry and disposal instructions, along with the crop-specific dose and harvest interval. Do not
interpret natural origin, leaf penetration or a short waiting period as a safety guarantee. This description does not replace
the current pack instructions or establish unlisted crop uses.
