1 OATH Herbicide by Parijat

Topramezone 336 g/L w/v SC for early weed control in maize.

What it controls: The grasses and broadleaf weeds in the maize target list below.

When to use it: After weeds emerge, at their 2–3-leaf stage. Count weed leaves, not maize leaves.

What to include: MSO spray additive, measured separately from the herbicide.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🌿  Grass and broadleaf control: Controls the grass and broadleaf weeds identified in the maize target list. Match the species in your field before treatment.
  • 🔄  Movement within weeds: Topramezone enters treated leaves and moves within the weed, so its action is not limited to the exact point touched by a spray droplet.
  • ⏱️  A visible timing check: The 2–3-leaf weed stage helps you judge when to treat, rather than relying only on days after maize sowing.
  • 💧  MSO-assisted uptake: The MSO additive helps the spray spread and enter weed leaves. It accompanies the herbicide; it does not replace it.

SC — suspension concentrate, a liquid concentrate diluted with water

How It Works: Mode of Action

Topramezone disrupts the pigments that protect a weed’s green tissues.

  1. Entry: Spray reaches the emerged weed leaves. MSO helps spreading and uptake.
  2. Movement: After uptake, topramezone moves within the weed beyond the treated leaf surface.
  3. Action: It blocks the HPPD enzyme and disrupts production of protective carotenoid pigments. Susceptible weeds turn pale or white, stop growing and can die. Whitening is not a reason to increase the dose or spray again immediately.

For resistance management, compare herbicide action groups, not just brand names. Changing to another Group 27 herbicide does not change the mode of action.

Target Crops & Weeds

Use in maize against these grass and broadleaf weeds. Scientific names help distinguish weeds with similar local names.

Grass weeds

  • Eleusine indica
  • Digitaria sanguinalis
  • Dactyloctenium aegyptium
  • Echinochloa spp.
  • Chloris barbata

Broadleaf weeds

  • Parthenium hysterophorus
  • Digera arvensis
  • Amaranthus viridis
  • Physalis minima
  • Alternanthera sessilis
  • Convolvulus arvensis
  • Celosia argentea

Dosage & Application Guide

Apply to maize when the target weeds have 2–3 leaves. Keep the herbicide’s acre rate separate from the MSO additive’s litre rate.

PHI is the minimum time from the last application to harvest. Keep the 83-day maize interval. The 2 ml/L figure is for MSO, not for 1 OATH.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Check the weeds: Identify the target weeds and confirm their 2–3-leaf stage before treatment.
  • Measure the treated area: Use 30 ml of 1 OATH and 150 L of water for each acre. Tank capacity alone does not determine the area covered.
  • Include MSO: Measure the additive at its separate 2 ml/L water rate and follow the product and additive instructions for mixing. Do not substitute an unrelated sticker or pesticide.
  • Cover the weed foliage: Set up the label-specified equipment for even coverage of the emerged target weeds.
  • Check before another treatment: Identify surviving or newly emerged weeds and follow the supplied label before any repeat spray or additional herbicide.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is 1 OATH for maize only?

This guide covers maize and the weeds named above. The same weed growing in another crop or on non-cropped land does not make that use interchangeable.

2. Do I count maize leaves or weed leaves?

Count the weed leaves. Apply after the target weeds emerge, at their 2–3-leaf stage.

3. Is 2 ml/L the herbicide dose?

No. It is the MSO additive rate. The separate 1 OATH rate is 30 ml/acre with 150 L/acre water.

4. Why are treated weeds turning white?

Topramezone disrupts pigments that protect green tissues. Whitening can precede the death of susceptible weeds, but it does not prove that every weed is controlled. Do not increase the rate in response.

5. Can I add another herbicide?

The MSO instruction does not establish compatibility with another herbicide. Check the exact partner, permitted crop and mixture directions on both labels before mixing.

Safety & Disclaimer

Before you use it: Read the supplied 1 OATH label and leaflet, together with the MSO instructions. Follow their protective-equipment, storage, re-entry, first-aid and container-disposal requirements. Keep the product-use decision specific to maize, the stated weeds and the application conditions. Neither systemic action nor crop selectivity is a general safety guarantee for people, animals, water bodies or neighbouring plants.

Use only the stated dose and observe the harvest waiting period. This description explains the product; it does not replace the supplied label or provide permission for an unlisted crop, mixture or repeat application.
