Item description

Rapigen GR Insecticide by AgroStar | 4 kg

A granular chlorantraniliprole insecticide for the specified borers and leaf folder in rice and sugarcane. Apply as granules using the crop-specific placement and timing; it is not the Rapigen SC spray formulation.

Formulation: Granules for the stated broadcasting or furrow/base placement.

Rice timing: 15–35 days after transplanting.

Sugarcane timing: Match early-shoot-borer or top-borer timing separately, and follow application with irrigation.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🌾  Rice pest programme: The leaflet pairs rice yellow stem borer and leaf folder with a transplanting-based application window.
  • 🎯  Target-specific sugarcane timing: Early shoot borer and top borer have separate first-treatment triggers.
  • 📦  Granular application: Use the specified granule placement rather than inventing a spray dilution.
  • 🛡️  Group 28 action: Chlorantraniliprole acts on insect ryanodine receptors; resistance management still applies.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Chlorantraniliprole is an anthranilic diamide in IRAC Group 28: ryanodine receptor modulators.

  1. Disrupts muscle function: Activation of insect ryanodine receptors releases stored calcium, affecting muscle control and feeding.
  2. Keep resistance management separate: Rotate with effective insecticides from different IRAC groups under qualified advice. Changing pack size or switching SC to GR does not change Group 28.

Target Crops & Pests

Use only the exact crop–pest pairs and application routes stated in the current supplied leaflet.

Crop
Target Pest(s)
Rice (paddy)
Yellow stem borer (Scirpophaga incertulas) and paddy leaf folder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis).
Sugarcane
Early shoot borer (Chilo infuscatellus) and top borer (Scirpophaga excerptalis).

Dosage & Application Guide

Formulated granule quantities for the crop–pest pairs above. Broadcast uniformly; sugarcane requires the placement and irrigation directions below. The water field is not a spray dilution. PHI means last treatment to harvest.

Dose per Acre & Original Label Basis

Crop

Water per Acre
Original Label Basis
PHI
Rice
Approx. 4.05 kg
Broadcast granules; no spray-water recipe
10 kg/ha; leaflet prose also states 4 kg/acre

Sugarcane
Approx. 7.59 kg
Granule placement followed by irrigation; no spray-water recipe
18.75 kg/ha; leaflet prose also states 7.5 kg/acre
147 days

Rice first timing: Apply 15–35 days after transplanting for the listed rice pests. Broadcast the granules uniformly using the crop programme.

Sugarcane first timing and placement: For early shoot borer, apply between planting and the first irrigation. For top borer, time treatment with the appearance of top-borer moths. Place granules in furrows at planting or at the base of young emerging shoots along the furrows, followed by irrigation. Do not substitute the SC June programme.

Original units and rounding: The hectare table gives 10 and 18.75 kg/ha; leaflet prose gives rounded acre figures of 4 and 7.5 kg/acre. The approximate acre column is calculated from the hectare figures × 0.40468564224 and rounded to two decimals. Keep the original label basis when calibrating.

Repeat and entry restrictions: No numerical repeat interval, maximum count or worker re-entry interval is given in the leaflet. Obtain the current pack restrictions before any repeat or re-entry; absence of a number is not unrestricted permission.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Match the formulation: Use the 0.4% GR crop programme, not the 18.5% SC spray/drench programme. Weigh the formulated granules for the actual treated area.
  • Check the first-treatment trigger: Rice: 15–35 days after transplanting. Sugarcane early shoot borer: planting to first irrigation. Sugarcane top borer: appearance of top-borer moths.
  • Place granules as directed: Broadcast uniformly. For sugarcane, apply in furrows at planting or at the base of young emerging shoots along furrows and follow with irrigation. Do not prepare a foliar tank mixture from these directions.
  • Use protective equipment: Avoid dust generation and breathing dust; protect skin and eyes. Keep material and contaminated equipment away from food, feed and water sources.
  • Check partners and harvest: Confirm exact fungicide or other partner compatibility against both current labels. Record treatment dates and observe 53 days PHI for rice or 147 days for sugarcane.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Rapigen GR the same as Rapigen SC?
No. GR contains 0.4% w/w chlorantraniliprole as granules; SC has a different concentration and application programme. Both remain IRAC Group 28, so switching formulations is not a mode-of-action rotation.
2. When should rice be treated?
At 15–35 days after transplanting for the listed rice yellow stem borer and leaf folder programme. Broadcast uniformly and observe the 53-day harvest interval.
3. Do both sugarcane pests have the same first timing?
No. Early shoot borer: planting to first irrigation. Top borer: appearance of top-borer moths. Follow the stated furrow/base placement with irrigation and observe the 147-day PHI.
4. Why do the acre figures differ slightly from 4 kg and 7.5 kg?
The leaflet gives rounded acre figures in its prose and 10/18.75 kg per hectare in its table. The approximate acre column is the mathematical conversion of that hectare table. Retain the supplied label’s original basis when measuring.
5. Can I dissolve this 4 kg pack in a spray tank or repeat whenever pests appear?
Do not turn the granule programme into a spray recipe or assume a pack treats a fixed area. Confirm current-label repeat, mixture and worker-entry restrictions before use; a generic incidence statement is not a fixed schedule.

Safety & Disclaimer

Before you use it: Read the current supplied pack label and leaflet. Match the crop, target, formulation, route, first-treatment timing, product quantity, water or placement basis, harvest interval and worker-entry restrictions. This overview does not replace the label or authenticate a batch.

Wear the label-specified protective clothing, gloves, goggles or face protection and required respiratory protection. Avoid skin, eye and mouth contact and breathing dust or spray mist. Do not eat, drink or smoke during handling. Wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing after work; keep children, animals and unprotected people away.
