Item description

Rapigen SC Insecticide by AgroStar | 30 ml

A chlorantraniliprole suspension concentrate for the crop–pest pairs listed below. Foliar and sugarcane soil treatments have different directions; do not substitute the granular Rapigen GR formulation.

Action: Contact and stomach activity, primarily against insect larvae.

Timing: Use the specific foliar threshold or sugarcane top-borer timing below.

Harvest: Match the crop-specific interval from the last treatment to harvest.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🎯  Named pest targets: Crop-specific borers, caterpillars and other pests are listed rather than implying control of every insect.
  • 🛡️  Group 28 action: Chlorantraniliprole acts on insect ryanodine receptors, disrupting muscle function.
  • 📋  Crop-specific programmes: Use the leaflet’s paired quantities and harvest intervals, with separate foliar and soil-treatment directions.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Chlorantraniliprole is an anthranilic diamide in IRAC Group 28: ryanodine receptor modulators.

  1. Disrupts muscle function: Activation of insect ryanodine receptors releases stored calcium, affecting muscle control and feeding.
  2. Keep resistance management separate: Rotate with effective insecticides from different IRAC groups under qualified advice. Changing pack size or switching SC to GR does not change Group 28.

Target Crops & Pests

Use only the exact crop–pest pairs and application routes stated in the current supplied leaflet.

Crop
Target Pest(s)
Bengal gram; black gram
Bengal gram: pod borers (Spodoptera spp.; Helicoverpa armigera). Black gram: pod borers (Maruca spp.; Spodoptera litura).
Pigeonpea; soybean
Pigeonpea (redgram): gram pod borer and pod fly. Soybean: green semiloopers, stem fly and girdle beetle.
Bitter gourd; brinjal
Bitter gourd: fruit borers and caterpillars (Diaphania spp.; H. armigera). Brinjal: fruit and shoot borer.
Cabbage; chilli; tomato
Cabbage: diamondback moth. Chilli: fruit borer and caterpillars (H. armigera; S. litura; S. exigua). Tomato: fruit borer.
Cotton; okra
Cotton: American bollworm, spotted bollworm and tobacco caterpillar. Okra: fruit borers (H. armigera; Earias vitella).
Rice; maize; groundnut
Rice: stem borer and leaf folder. Maize: spotted stem borer and pink stem borer. Groundnut: tobacco caterpillar. Obtain separate complete application directions for maize and groundnut before use.
Sugarcane
Termites, early shoot borer and top borer. The numerical sugarcane programme below is for top borer only; obtain complete first-treatment directions for termites and early shoot borer.

Dosage & Application Guide

Formulated-product quantities, not active-ingredient amounts. Each row applies only to that crop’s pests above. Foliar rows require the pest’s economic threshold level (ETL); sugarcane top borer requires the separate June/brood conditions below. PHI means last treatment to harvest. Grouped crops share only the product/water quantities; follow each named crop’s own pests and PHI.

First timing and route: Listed foliar crops: apply at the pest economic threshold level using a knapsack sprayer. Have a local crop adviser establish the relevant threshold; no threshold count is supplied here. Sugarcane top borer: soil drench in June for the 3rd, 4th and 5th broods. Do not use the sugarcane row as a foliar spray.

Other listed uses: Before treating maize, groundnut, sugarcane termites or early shoot borer, obtain their complete crop–target timing and method. Do not transfer the displayed recipes. Their leaflet PHIs are maize 10 days, groundnut 28 days and sugarcane 208 days.

Conversion and repeat limits: Acre quantities equal hectare quantities × 0.40468564224, rounded to two decimals. Keep the original hectare basis for calibration. No per-litre/tank dose, fixed repeat interval or maximum application count is inferred. Confirm current pack restrictions before any repeat.

Worker entry: The leaflet gives no numerical re-entry interval. This does not mean immediate access is safe; follow the current pack’s entry and protective-equipment requirements.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Identify crop and pest: Use only listed crop–target pairs and the exact SC formulation. Check crop stage, local threshold and harvest date before mixing.
  • Measure the paired area rate: Calibrate the sprayer or drenching equipment. Measure the product and water together for the treated area; pack size is not an area or tank dose.
  • Keep routes distinct: Use foliar application only for the listed ETL programmes. Apply the sugarcane top-borer treatment by soil drenching under its June and brood conditions.
  • Mix and handle safely: Follow pack mixing directions and maintain the required protective equipment. Never blow a blocked nozzle by mouth or mix with bare hands.
  • Check mixtures and records: Confirm the exact mixing partner against both current labels; broad fungicide compatibility is not blanket approval. Record treatment date, PHI and any authorised repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should the first foliar treatment be made?
At the target pest’s economic threshold level for the foliar crops listed in the dose table. Have a qualified local adviser establish the threshold; occurrence alone is not a complete instruction.
2. Can I use the displayed sugarcane dose for every sugarcane pest?
No. It is for top borer, by soil drenching in June for the 3rd, 4th and 5th broods. Obtain complete first-treatment directions for termites and early shoot borer.
3. Why must I check Bengal gram separately?
Use its own leaflet row: 125 ml product with 500 L water/ha and an 11-day PHI. Do not combine it with crops that require a different quantity or harvest interval.
4. Is this 30 ml pack a fixed number of tanks?
No. Match the area-based product and water programme. No tank size, per-litre mixture or fixed pack coverage is implied.
5. Can I switch to Rapigen GR or repeat at a fixed interval?
SC and GR have different strengths, routes and programmes, although both are IRAC Group 28. Do not substitute rates. Confirm current-label repeat, mixture and worker-entry restrictions.
