Item description

Oxivia Herbicide by AgroStar | 500 ml

Oxivia is a selective contact herbicide containing oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC. It has residual activity and is used against the specified weeds in permitted crops. Do not use it on potato or groundnut. This listing is the 500 ml pack.

What it controls: The paired weeds listed below in Mentha, onion, direct-sown rice and tea. A crop name does not make every weed or every application method suitable.

When to use it: The Mentha programme below is a pre-emergence treatment within 3–4 days of planting. Confirm the complete crop-specific directions before treating onion, direct-sown rice or tea.

What to include: The correct product quantity and spray water for the actual treatment area, suitable protective equipment and a calibrated sprayer.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🎯  Specified weed targets: Pairs each permitted crop with its own weeds, rather than treating Oxivia as an unrestricted all-purpose weedkiller.
  • 🍃  Contact activity: Acts through contact with treated weed tissue; even application remains important.
  • 🌱  Residual action: The product has residual herbicidal activity. This does not establish a fixed control period or a repeat-spray interval.
  • 🧪  Liquid EC formulation: Supplied as an emulsifiable concentrate, measured in millilitres and diluted for the labelled spray application.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Oxyfluorfen is a Group 14 herbicide. Its action is different from the microtubule-inhibiting action of pendimethalin.

  1. PPO inhibition: Blocks protoporphyrinogen oxidase, an enzyme involved in pigment production, disrupting susceptible weed tissue.
  2. Contact activity: The treated weed tissue is affected. Uniform spray distribution matters; missed areas are not corrected by simply increasing the rate elsewhere.
  3. Residual activity: Acts beyond the initial contact treatment in the treated area. Follow the specified crop, planting method and application stage rather than assuming every field situation is suitable.

Use HRAC group numbers when planning weed-resistance management with a qualified agronomist. Changing only the brand name does not change the mode of action. Do not use another brand’s crop, timing or rate as an Oxivia instruction.

Target Crops & Weeds

Keep each crop paired with its listed weeds. Potato and groundnut are excluded: oxyfluorfen use on those crops is prohibited in India, even if they appear in an older product document.

Dosage & Application Guide

The numerical programme below is for Mentha only and must stay paired with the Mentha weeds above, the specified application method, planting-stage timing and harvest interval. Do not use it as a rate for another crop.

Dosage per Acre & Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)

Crop
Product / Acre
Water / Acre
Original Label Basis
PHI (Days)
Mentha
Approx. 366 ml
Approx. 202 L
904.3 ml product + 500 L water per hectare
10

Original label basis: Mentha: 904.3 ml product in 500 L water per hectare. Acre figures are approximate conversions using 1 acre = 0.40468564224 hectare; retain the original hectare directions for accurate area-based measurement.

Mentha method and first timing: Apply as a conventional high-volume spray with a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle, before weed emergence and within 3–4 days of planting. Keep the nozzle at a fixed height and walk at a uniform speed in straight passes.

Mentha harvest interval: Allow at least 10 days between the last application and harvest. A harvest interval is not a worker re-entry interval; confirm the supplied-label worker-entry instructions separately.

Other listed crops: For onion, direct-sown rice and tea, obtain the complete crop-specific product, water, planting-stage, harvest and worker-entry directions before treatment. The Mentha programme is not transferable to those crops.

No universal tank recipe: Pack size is the sale quantity, not a one-acre or one-pump dose. Do not derive a litre or tank recipe from the acre equivalents, and do not interpret an unlisted interval as zero days.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Check the crop and planting method: Identify the crop and the exact weeds before treatment. Do not use on potato or groundnut. Direct-sown rice and transplanted crops must not be treated as interchangeable situations.
  • Plan the timing: For the Mentha programme shown, use the pre-emergence window within 3–4 days of planting. Obtain complete crop-specific directions for the other permitted crop uses before spraying.
  • Measure the area: Measure the actual treatment area and match both product and water to that area. The pack volume is not a field rate.
  • Prepare suitable spraying equipment: Use the labelled high-volume spray method with a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle. Maintain a fixed nozzle height and uniform walking speed to avoid missed strips and excessive overlap.
  • Check field conditions: AgroStar advises clear sunlight and suitable soil moisture for weed control. Check the actual field conditions with your agronomist; this general advice does not replace the crop-specific application stage.
  • Mix only as permitted: Follow the supplied pack’s mixing instructions. Do not add a sticker or another herbicide merely because a general compatibility statement exists; the exact partners, crop, timing and use must be permitted.
  • Protect nearby areas: Avoid spray drift, runoff and contamination of drains or water bodies. Do not allow spray to contact people, animals, food or feed.
  • Respect harvest and entry restrictions: Keep the Mentha harvest interval above. Confirm worker-entry requirements separately, and do not borrow a shorter harvest or entry interval from another crop or product.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between contact and residual activity?
Contact activity affects treated weed tissue. Residual activity means the treatment can remain herbicidally active in the treated area. Neither description establishes a fixed duration, a repeat interval or permission to use the product at any crop stage.

2. Can I use Oxivia on potato or groundnut?
No. Oxyfluorfen use on potato and groundnut is prohibited in India. An older leaflet, website table or another brand’s document does not override that restriction.

3. Can the Mentha rate be used for onion, rice or tea?
No. Each crop needs its own complete directions. Keep the numerical Mentha programme tied to Mentha and its listed weeds, spray method, planting stage and harvest interval.

4. Is there one dose for every pump or tank?
No. Tank capacity, treated area and spray calibration matter. Do not convert this pack size or the approximate acre figures into a universal pump or litre recipe.

5. Can I mix it with another herbicide or a sticker?
Only when the supplied product directions and crop-specific advice permit the exact combination. A broad compatibility statement is not permission for every tank mix, adjuvant or nursery treatment.

Safety & Disclaimer

Before you use it: Read the supplied label and leaflet and follow current Indian use restrictions. Do not use Oxivia on potato or groundnut. Use only for permitted crops and specified weeds, and keep each crop’s complete directions together.

Wear protective clothing, suitable chemical-resistant gloves and eye or face protection while handling and spraying. Avoid breathing spray mist and avoid contact with skin, eyes and mouth. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while working. Wash hands and exposed skin, and wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

The product is harmful if swallowed and presents an aspiration hazard if it enters the airways. After exposure, seek medical attention and show the container, label or safety data sheet. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed by a physician and give nothing by mouth to an unconscious person. Wash contaminated skin with soap and water and rinse exposed eyes thoroughly with clean water.

Toxic to aquatic life, with long-lasting effects. Prevent spray, spills, equipment washings and containers from contaminating drains, streams or other water bodies. Keep the product tightly closed in its original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, locked away from children, food, feed, heat, sparks and open flames.

Do not reuse empty packaging. Follow the supplied-label disposal directions and local waste rules; do not leave packages where they can be reused. Field results depend on the weeds, crop stage, conditions and correct application. No claim here overrides the supplied label or a legal restriction.
