Item description

Omnislam Rice Herbicide by AgroStar | 400 ml

Omnislam is a systemic, post-emergence rice herbicide combining penoxsulam 1.02% and cyhalofop-butyl 5.1% in an oil-dispersion formulation. It targets the separately listed weeds in transplanted and direct-seeded rice. This listing is the 400 ml pack.

What it controls: The labelled grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds, with different species lists for transplanted and direct-seeded rice.

When to use it: 15–20 days after transplanting or sowing, according to the rice establishment; AgroStar also specifies weeds at the 2–4-leaf stage.

Before spraying: Keep the product, water, first-treatment timing, soil restrictions, 60-day harvest interval and 24-hour entry interval together.

Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits

  • 🌾  Two rice establishments: Label directions cover transplanted and direct-seeded rice, without treating their weed lists as identical.
  • 🎯  Two modes of action: Penoxsulam inhibits ALS and cyhalofop-butyl inhibits ACCase; use both HRAC groups when planning resistance management.
  • 💧  Oil-dispersion formulation: The OD formulation supports delivery of the two active ingredients for post-emergence foliar weed treatment.

How It Works: Mode of Action

Omnislam combines two herbicidal modes of action. The formulation is an oil dispersion, not a licence to exchange doses with other concentrations or brands.

  1. ALS inhibition: Penoxsulam belongs to HRAC Group 2 and disrupts production of essential branched-chain amino acids in susceptible weeds.
  2. ACCase inhibition: Cyhalofop-butyl belongs to HRAC Group 1 and inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase, affecting fatty-acid synthesis in susceptible grasses.
  3. Systemic weed control: Apply to the exposed foliage of the correct young weeds within the label’s rice-establishment timing. Uniform coverage remains essential.

Two active ingredients do not guarantee control of every resistant weed. Plan rotations and other weed-management measures with a qualified crop adviser, accounting for both HRAC Groups 1 and 2.

Target Crops & Weeds

Use only the specified rice-establishment and weed combinations. Do not treat the separate lists as interchangeable.

Dosage & Application Guide

Use a post-emergence foliar spray only for the corresponding rice-establishment and weed list above. Keep the original hectare ranges, timing, water, soil precautions and harvest restriction together.

Dose per Acre, Application Timing & Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)

Rice Establishment
Product / Acre
Water / Acre
Original Label Basis
First Application / PHI
Transplanted rice
Approx. 809–911 ml
Approx. 152–202 L
2,000–2,250 ml product + 375–500 L water per hectare
15–20 days after transplanting; PHI: 60 days between the last spray and harvest.
Direct-seeded rice
Approx. 809–911 ml
Approx. 152–202 L
2,000–2,250 ml product + 375–500 L water per hectare
15–20 days after sowing; PHI: 60 days between the last spray and harvest.

Weed stage and water: AgroStar specifies weeds at the 2–4-leaf stage and exposed weed foliage. Keep this stage within the label’s 15–20-day establishment window; later use may give only partial control. Use the leaflet’s water range above rather than a universal 150 L/acre value.

Soil restriction: Do not apply on newly levelled ground with soil pH above 7.8 or high salt content: the leaflet warns of rice injury under pre-flood conditions. This is a soil restriction, not a spray-water pH target.

Worker re-entry: The leaflet specifies 24 hours before re-entry. Keep this separate from the 60-day harvest interval and follow any stricter supplied-pack direction.

Acre conversion and further treatment: Acre equivalents are approximate, calculated from hectare quantities using 0.40468564224. Retain the original label ranges; no per-litre or tank dose is implied. Follow the supplied pack for any further-treatment limits, rather than treating first-application timing as a repeat schedule.

How to Apply: Best Practices

  • Check the field first: Identify the rice establishment and its labelled weeds. Check soil conditions, including the newly levelled-ground, high-pH and salinity restriction, before choosing treatment.
  • Apply at the correct first timing: Treat 15–20 days after transplanting or sowing as applicable. AgroStar also specifies the 2–4-leaf weed stage; do not use leaf stage alone to disregard the label’s day window.
  • Prepare the measured spray: Measure the required formulated product and prepare with the matching water quantity according to the supplied label. Mix thoroughly and keep the spray uniform. Do not mix with bare hands.
  • Use suitable foliar equipment: Use a knapsack sprayer with a flood-jet or flat-fan nozzle. Expose weed foliage for spray contact, apply evenly and avoid drift onto non-target crops.
  • Manage water after spraying: AgroStar directs irrigation 12–24 hours after treatment. Follow the supplied pack and manage field water without contaminating water sources.
  • Do not add insecticides or fungicides: AgroStar directs not to mix Omnislam with any fungicide or insecticide. Do not assume that other herbicides, fertilisers or adjuvants are permitted.
  • Observe entry and harvest limits: Allow 24 hours before re-entry and at least 60 days between the last spray and harvest. Record the application date and follow any stricter current pack restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I use Omnislam in both transplanted and direct-seeded rice?
The leaflet covers both, but their weed lists differ. Match the correct list and apply 15–20 days after transplanting or sowing as applicable. Do not extend a species listed for one establishment to the other.

2. Is the 2–4-leaf weed stage enough to choose the spray date?
No. AgroStar’s weed-stage advice complements the leaflet’s explicit 15–20-day timing after transplanting or sowing. Keep both together, along with soil restrictions. Late application may provide only partial control.

3. Is this 400 ml pack a fixed acre or tank dose?
No. Pack volume is the sale quantity. The leaflet gives 2,000–2,250 ml per hectare in 375–500 L water per hectare. Use the approximate acre equivalents above for the actual treatment area, without inventing a universal per-tank or per-litre recipe.

4. Can I mix it with other pesticides or spray on high-pH soil?
Do not mix with any fungicide or insecticide, as AgroStar directs. Check other partners individually. Do not apply on newly levelled ground with soil pH above 7.8 or high salt content because the leaflet warns of rice injury under pre-flood conditions.

5. When can workers enter, the field be irrigated and rice be harvested?
The leaflet gives 24 hours before re-entry and a 60-day interval from the last spray to harvest. AgroStar directs irrigation 12–24 hours after treatment. These are three different requirements; one does not replace another.
