Item description
Fomexa Herbicide by AgroStar | 600 ml
Fomexa combines fomesafen and quizalofop ethyl in a suspension concentrate for post-emergence weed control in soybean. Match the target weeds to the supplied label before choosing the programme. This listing is the 600 ml pack.
What it controls: The leaflet-listed soybean grasses and sedge; AgroStar also describes a broader weed spectrum, shown separately below.
When to use it: The leaflet specifies 15–20 days after soybean sowing, when weeds have 3–4 leaves.
What to include: The measured product and matched water volume, with no insecticide, fungicide or plant growth regulator in the mixture.
Why Choose This Product? Key Benefits
- 🌱 Soybean weed control: A post-emergence programme for the soybean weeds named in the leaflet.
- 🔬 Two active ingredients: Combines fomesafen and quizalofop ethyl in one SC formulation.
- 🎯 Two modes of action: Fomesafen is a PPO inhibitor; quizalofop ethyl is an ACCase inhibitor.
- 💧 Foliar application: Designed to be mixed with water and sprayed with suitable equipment for even coverage.

How It Works: Mode of Action
Fomexa combines two herbicidal modes of action. The ingredients are not interchangeable with standalone products or with other fomesafen mixtures.
- Fomesafen: HRAC 14: Inhibits protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), disrupting pigment-related processes and damaging susceptible weed cells.
- Quizalofop ethyl: HRAC 1: Acts systemically in susceptible grass weeds and inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), interrupting fatty-acid synthesis and growth at growing points.
- Good coverage still matters: Expose target weed foliage to the spray at the correct stage. A two-active formulation does not make late treatment or missed areas equivalent to the labelled programme.
Use both HRAC group numbers when planning resistance management. A different brand can contain the same mode of action; a mixture is not a guarantee against herbicide resistance.
Target Crops & Weeds
The numeric programme below applies to the leaflet-listed target set in the first row. The second row preserves AgroStar’s additional product-page spectrum, not an extra dose recommendation. Before treating those weeds, check that the supplied pack gives the applicable use directions.

Dosage & Application Guide
Use this programme for the soybean weeds identified as the leaflet programme above. Keep the target set, rate, water, timing, harvest interval and worker-entry interval together.
Dosage per Acre & Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI)
| Crop | Product / Acre | Water / Acre | Original Label Basis | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean: leaflet programme | Approx. 607 ml | Approx. 202 L | 1,500 ml product + 500 L water / ha | 71 |
Apply as a post-emergence foliar spray 15–20 days after sowing soybean, when weeds are at the 3–4-leaf stage. Do not substitute a different crop or late weed stage.
Acre values are approximate conversions of the original hectare programme retained above. Use product volume and spray water as paired area-based quantities, not as a universal per-litre or per-pump recipe.
Worker re-entry is 24 hours after each application. PHI is a separate requirement: leave 71 days between the last application and soybean harvest.
Do not combine with insecticides or plant growth regulators; AgroStar also says not to mix with fungicides. Follow the supplied label for any further treatment rather than assuming a fixed interval or unlimited applications.
How to Apply: Best Practices
- Identify the target weeds: Match the field weeds to the leaflet programme above. Check the supplied pack before using the product for AgroStar’s additional described spectrum.
- Time the spray: Treat 15–20 days after sowing soybean when weeds have 3–4 leaves. Late application may leave weeds only partly controlled.
- Measure product and water: For the leaflet target set, use 1,500 ml product with 500 L water per hectare, approximately 607 ml with 202 L per acre. Measure the field rather than using a whole pack automatically.
- Mix in stages: Mix the measured product thoroughly in a small quantity of water, then add the remaining water with thorough agitation. Do not store diluted spray.
- Choose suitable equipment: Use a high-volume knapsack sprayer with a flat-fan nozzle or a suitable power-operated sprayer. Expose weed foliage and distribute the matched water volume evenly.
- Keep mixtures restricted: Do not mix with insecticides, fungicides or plant growth regulators. Do not add another herbicide or adjuvant unless the supplied labels support that exact use.
- Protect bees and water: Do not spray during active bee foraging. Avoid drift and do not use near aquaculture; keep product, spray and washings away from water sources.
- Observe entry and harvest intervals: Keep workers out for 24 hours after each application, and leave 71 days between the last spray and soybean harvest. Follow all additional supplied-label restrictions.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is Fomexa the same as quizalofop alone?
No. It contains fomesafen 12% plus quizalofop ethyl 3% w/w SC. A standalone quizalofop product or a different fomesafen mixture has its own label, targets and dose.
2. Which weeds does the dose table cover?
It covers the leaflet-listed soybean grasses and Cyperus rotundus in the first target row. AgroStar’s additional described weeds are listed separately; use the supplied pack to confirm their applicable directions before treatment.
3. Is the 600 ml pack a fixed acre or tank dose?
No. It is the sale quantity. The leaflet programme uses 1,500 ml product and 500 L water per hectare, approximately 607 ml and 202 L per acre. Do not turn the pack into a standard pump recipe.
4. Can I mix Fomexa with an insecticide, fungicide or growth regulator?
No. The leaflet excludes insecticides and plant growth regulators, and AgroStar’s product guidance also excludes fungicides. Do not assume another herbicide or adjuvant is suitable.
5. When can workers enter and when can soybean be harvested?
Worker re-entry is 24 hours after each application. Leave 71 days between the last application and harvest. Spray timing is 15–20 days after sowing when weeds have 3–4 leaves; these are three different requirements.
Safety & Disclaimer
Before you use it: Read the current supplied pack label and leaflet. Match the crop, weed, formulation, product rate, water, adjuvant requirement, method, timing, harvest interval and all restrictions. Use only as directed for agriculture. This overview does not replace the supplied label or authenticate an individual pack.
Wear the label-required protective clothing, suitable gloves, footwear and eye or face protection. Avoid breathing spray mist and contact with skin, eyes or mouth. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while handling. Wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing after use. Keep children, animals and unprotected people away.
Fomexa is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment, so avoid spraying during active bee foraging. It is moderately to highly toxic to freshwater fish and aquatic invertebrates. Avoid use near aquaculture and prevent spray drift, spills and washings from entering water. Store tightly closed in the original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, locked place, separate from food and animal feed.
Do not reuse empty containers. Dispose of unused product, washings and packaging according to the supplied label and local authorised requirements without polluting soil or water. If exposure or illness occurs, stop work, seek urgent medical advice and show the container, label or safety data sheet. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by a medical professional.
